[personal profile] zorana provided her invaluable self to a couple of marathons and I have now caught up on some of my shows.
  • Arrow - attempting to catch up and made some great progress while auditing my music collection (now in two folders called "sorted" and "pit of voles"). Ollie is still ridiculous but Felicity and Diggle are so much fun
  • In the Flesh - liked episode 1, not fluffy watching, will have to ration carefully
  • Grimm S03 - up to date and still in love, have forgiven sudden attack of the stupid to set up the S03 cliffhanger on account of Munroe and Rosalie awesome and potential to explore Nick and Juliette being able to choose the Grimm lifestyle voluntarily. Babygrimm FTW!
  • Orphan Black - up to date and deeply invested, so many issues, so many questions, so much plot. Maslany was robbed at the Emmy’s
  • Teen Wolf - did not have to marathon as cupidsbow and I have a standing weekly TW watching date which also gives me a front row seat on the fabulous meta being produced
Movies
  • Guardians of the Galaxy - surprisingly good
  • X-Men: Days of Future Past - eh
  • Top Hat (Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire) - adorable and fluffy
  • Casablanca - rewatching for the upteenth time

Movies
  • City of Bones - watchable, feels like a young woman's fantasy life all smushed together. I'm not opposed.
  • After Earth - stopped after 15 mins. I want to support this movie but it was too boring for me to watch.
Television
  • Arrow Season 2 - Ollie is still awful but the rest of the cast makes up for it
  • Beauty and the Beast (2012) - YOU ARE ALL FIRED, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THIS EXISTED? It's full of melodrama and ridiculous angst and lovely LOVELY female characters and plots that don't shame women and it has evil, lurking corporations.
  • Elementary - happens when I'm in the room, no objections and quite a lot of love for Watson.
  • Grimm Season 3 - still fun and Monroe is still awesome
  • Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - too boring to watch, so sad. Holding out for a Peggy Carter series.
  • Orphan Black - GOLD, PURE GOLD.
  • Sleepy Hollow - on probation, but has many pleasing qualities
  • Supernatural Season 8 - so much better than seasons 6 & 7, it's like having an old friend back

  • Braces adjusted again last Wed, maybe this is the last one… maybe
  • Bought ankle boots and replacement sunglasses for ones cruelly abandoned... somewhere
  • Visited middle brother (who totally judges me for turning into the kind of person who makes their dog wear clothes). That second storm took off their porch roof and severed a gas pipe. Exciting times
  • Sick and sore for Thu night through Sunday – lovely, lovely painkillers = somewhat foggy brain function
  • Birthday dinner with mother and baby brother. Middle brother could not attend as there’s some sort of +30% XP DDO event on. I have ordered him a “Looking for Group… never mind, I can solo this one” shirt. He may claim not to be a geek, but if XP is more important than my birthday he can darn well wear it in my honor
  • Finished Game of Thrones, I watch it by wandering back into the room every 10 mins. Finally saw Farscape pilot and Babylon 5 pilot both of which are sort of part of my cultural landscape and I keep meaning to watch them, Farscape is winning slightly on account of Claudia Black

  • My plan to achieve higher physical health through knitting and watching television is coming to fruition. Only one headache this weekend and not nearly as exhausted and foggy. Supernatural for the win! I choose to enjoy this show despite various problems. Flashforward 1x05 - still enjoyable, Merlin 2x05 & 2x06 - very silly. 3-16 of Legend of the Seeker - I’m hypnotised by the sheer amount of chest area showing on everyone under 90. This isn’t very dignified TV watching, it involves a lot of yelping at critical *cough* plot and costume points.
  • Houseguests in the form of doofus and M = cuddles, very little sleep and a lot of mugs of tea.
  • Brunch with Mama, J., his parents, doofus and M. I bought a really nice sourdough multigrain and devoured it slowly over the next few days
  • I’m going to come short on yarn for my knitting project and must now attempt to hunt down a matching dye run. Wahh.
  • My food shopping this weekend consisted almost entirely of dairy products and dried fruit.
  • Got blood tests for various hormones, phlebotomist was very good – barely felt it.

I watched a reality TV show and liked it… yes, I know, the world will be ending shortly. I blame my brothers for this. Scrapheap Challenge: The Scrappy Races features small teams of engineers scavenging a scrap-heap and building things to complete challenges. I just saw an episode where four different teams tried to design devices to a) capture a fake sheep and b) launch it through the air into a pen. Claw, Spike, Net and Noose followed by Giant metal throwing arm, Air cannon, Rail gun and Centrifuge throwing arm. I wanted there to be a trebuchet so badly.

At $2.99 per episode that makes South Park S10 $3.13 cheaper than JBs, Grey's Anatomy S3 $13.77 more expensive and Lost S2 $7.77 more expensive.

Almost there iTunes; now do the maths.

Let's Go To Prison is the kind of movie that dances close to a lot of terrible things happening but never quite gets there - with [personal profile] sarren to comfort me I just relaxed and enjoyed the ridiculous levels of funny.

The Persuaders is a goddamn gem of 1971 clothes, hair and manly happiness. I totally get the love, it's ADORABLE and the manlove is ... everything I could ask for.

Dinner in Fremantle with [personal profile] maharetr , sunset over the ocean, live music at the Fly by Night (aussie soft pub rock / folk schmoop / blues), some light household maintenance (at least one task per week damnit), discovering it’s a vacuuming day (the Universe decides – we don’t) beach with the woofer (there are few things in the world better than putting your face into the side of a freshly sunbaked, clean dog), dinner with mother and brothers.

Have also started watching Carnivale and Kyle XY, both of which I blame on [personal profile] ascetic_hedony. Have seen a truely ridiculous amount of media in the last six weeks.

Torchwood S1 which has great individual episode writing and no overall story - this drives me crazy.
Doctor Who S3 which I thoroughly enjoyed. John Simm was wonderful.
Ultraviolet the TV series which was dark and interesting .
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm which was just ridiculous.
Smallville S6 which is cracktastic, I blame [personal profile] cupidsbow. I shall watch S7.
Eureka S2 which is even stronger than S1 and still very amusing.

A friend just gave me a spare ticket to the stage show - given I've never seen the TV show, what do people recommend seeing?

Are there absolute favourite episodes?

You know that hot, expectant feeling when you're waiting for the storm to break? It went very nicely with sitting in the hot wind on the riverfront listening to KABOOM, watching the fireworks explode and seeing forked lighting open up in the distance.

People were nice, day was great with lots of happy moments, good food, Heroes 1x12 and a ridiculous amount of episodes of Lois and Clark which is the cheesiest show ever. They must be sending away to special, rare spotted Tibetan mountain goats for this cheese and every episode I feel an urge to shout "Please God, will someone think of the children!"... slightly high on spandex methinks.

I liked this one very much; the flashback style wasn’t too annoying and actually helped build tension, which for me, is good because I don’t find this show particularly scary.

The opening montage was great! Pressure on, pressure off, pressure on, pressure off.

Have a bright red harness for Kenobi; with enough leverage he can cheerfully drag the hairy_peril behind him on a choker. I can effectively make him her minder which in turn means I can take them both out running with me. He wears it happily. I thought he might look like a dork dog but it's just cute. Need to make vet appointment, he is favouring the right shoulder way too often.

EDIT 9:58 pm Best. Idea. Ever. They ran neck and neck at my left knee for 4km. It was like synchronised swimming except with dogs, they should have been wearing tutus or something.

Kenobi and Wendy )

Night of company and singing with [livejournal.com profile] fred_mouse; and company. Pity I can't sing but all you have to do is hang out with louder people than you.

Family time with mother who came over bright and early to woofer walk and have breakfast with me.

Embarrassing failure to secure sound card tightly enough resulted in having to dissect the whole freakin box and put it back in again. The benefits were immeasurable because [livejournal.com profile] vegetariansushi; shared her delightful giggle with [livejournal.com profile] maharetr and [livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow as we watched the SGA pilot. This is hilarious, I've mostly related to SGA through the fic and I'm watching this and having the BEST time.
