1.                   Dean is obviously wrestling with Sam being a ‘freak’ and coming firmly down on the side of ‘my brother is OK no matter what’.

a.       I like the way Dean handles “Dr Badass” Ash, knows the right things to say. He says the right things to Jo too. Love Dean singing (badly) Jo’s song and claiming he can’t remember where he heard it. Dean is also given a more of chance to establish himself as the counterculture guy who loves the ‘sweet’ van with the tacky paintings, the bong and the furnishings. God this takes me back to being 18.

b.       Really liked the quiet way Dean touches Sam’s elbow when they’re watching Squashed!Bus man being taken away. I like the way he communicates so much by touch and facial expressions, it’s charming and also enjoyable to watch. The smile, smirks, leers and head tilts. Love the Star Wars references. This was especially great when he has to tell the truth, the facial expressions are brilliant!

c.       You know one day I’d like to just sit down and eat something I didn’t have to microwave at a mini mart. Our Dean expressing dissatisfaction with his lifestyle?? Be still my beating heart. I really liked Dean telling Sam that Sam’s not a killer – that he doesn’t have it in his bones. Yeah Dean, we know that’s your job.

d.       I like the way Dean has a little more stability back – and that quirky mask so that he can joke and call do-over (even if Sam does think he’s seven) when he’s just had his mind invaded and nearly had to shoot himself.

2.                   Jo, I need a bit more of her to work out what and who she is. She can handle a rifle, throw a nice straight punch (unlike Sammy), play video games and will cheerfully divest a trucker of his money. Is she a hunter or is she a young girl playing at being one? The music she pointedly plays at Dean is not only terrible but the whole ‘romance him with music’ thing is a very young thing to do. It’s a crush and a half.

3.                   Andy, the ordinary Joe’s psychic. He isn’t using his powers to take over the world; he isn’t even accumulating much in the way of wealth. He has the van of his dreams, some books and a huge bong.

a.       He’s obviously taking advantage of people; avoiding debts, getting free coffee, probably getting laid too (although I notice he didn’t take advantage of Tracie who he genuinely cared about). Taking the Impala should have earned him a swift trip to  Hell as should his  using his abilities on Dean. Interesting dichotomy of morality here on the part of the Winchester boys.

b.       The cosy little talk Sam has with Andy is really interesting. A human to human chat, someone like him, with similar experiences who isn’t batshit crazy and trying to take over the world. How nice too, to see the parallels between the two brother relationships – Sam has Dean and it makes him stronger. Andy didn’t even know Webber existed and Webber comes in determined to reunite them in some fantasy of brotherly love that is utterly removed from reality.

4.                   Anson Weems / Webber is just great as a freaked out, creepy, obsessed Evil Twin. Dean, you look so sane next to him! I wonder what Dean would have been like if he was a little more evil and Sam was a little less emotionally available to him?

5.                   The Psychic kids: So what do they all have in common now? Abilities? Intelligence? Dysfunctional families?
