Thing that kinda stood out:
  • Ellen trying to tell Tigh she betrayed the Resistance for love of him followed by his pain when he realises she definitely, definitely did it. I wonder what the stuff with Cavil will do - launch a 'kill the bastard who violated my wife' campaign?
  • The Chief finally shaving his beard and freaking out over Callie. Oh Tyrol, removing all that hair was such a manly statement of concern.
  • Breeder’s Cayon? I’m just sayin’…
  • Anders, Anders I love you so much, you just keep on soldiering don’t you. You just got made the protector of the Face of Things to Come you lucky, lucky man. I wonder if you and Kara will end up with a little brood of croutons.
  • As usual Roslyn is holding things close to her chest. At least she has one thanks to Hera’s magical baby blood. This magical baby had better turn out to be something really special, because if she can't turn vitamin pills into amphetamines all this build up will be lost.
  • Sharon making small talk with the Chief, all ex-girlfriend-ish and uncomfortable.
  • The Pegasus and Galactica crew cuddling over a line of salt. Aww.
  • Crushed_head_3 having mystical dreams about Hera and the oracle knowing her. Oh that Kamala eh?
  • Adama not telling Sharon about Hera. Oh Adama, come and talk to me about trust you fool.
  • Baltar and Six failing oh so humanly to relate, you break my heart with your twisted, twisted love.

I’m having real trouble relating to the atmosphere on Galactica, they’re all serious and doomed and maybe this would work better if I had some idea of what they are facing. Are there still five base stars orbiting New Caprica? Crushed_head_3 did say they were stretched to their limit but she might have just meant ground forces.

Do you realise how little sense that made to me, a non watcher of moving pictures (although I confess I have seen some of what I think you are talking about). I did however thoroughly appreciate the mention of "doomed" in the penultimate sentence though. It's a good word and we need to use it more often. I do try to inject it once a day at work.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 12:23 am (UTC)
dOOmed!

I'm surprised you even read this!
Monday, October 16th, 2006 12:28 am (UTC)
Of course I read it, I have to make sure you colonialists aren't getting into unauthorised trouble without inviting me. (-;

Or secretly feeding a TV addiction...

You don't want to do that. Not after midnight.

Puck you're already an evil pixie; does this mean you'll turn into something cute and furry?
Monday, October 16th, 2006 01:43 am (UTC)
[Whistles innocently]. I'll turn into something cute and furry with BIG POINTY TEETH!

Bunnicula the Vampire Rabbit?

Make that "crushed_head_and_broken_knees_3" >:-)

When she made that comment about "you're not one of them", my immediate thought was "it's not about race anymore, it's about which side you're on." What with the collaborators on both sides, the cross breeding and the religious conversions it's all getting very grey.

I get the impression there aren't that many base stars, but I dunno what they'd be doing if not guarding NC. So far as we know the Cylons aren't fighting anyone else.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 04:40 am (UTC)
[grin] Poor CH&BK_3, she's just not having an easy time here. Do you think there will be a correlation between her physical injury and spiritual insight? You'd think with a Cylon you'd only have to punch information in once...

I love the grey! Oh boy do I love it.

The Lee stuff is killing me though, what on EARTH have they done to him? Who is this man and why is he wearing a Lee suit?

I wonder if Baltar will have to sign a document endorsing the Cylon Allies defending New Caprica from the space based insurgents.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 05:09 am (UTC)
correlation
Only for the blonde ones :) Cavil seems to be learning nothing from a series of increasingly painful deaths. I'm amused at the way the humans are not in much of a hurry to kill skinjobs outright now that they know about the resurrection process.

Lee suit
Got it! He's a slitheen! It explains both the weight gain and the anomalous behaviour =)

I think the attempted evac will be over too quickly for dummy government actions (one way or another!). I'm still not convinced about him signing the execution orders - his self loathing is high enough now that his will to live actually had a chance of being overruled by his remaining principles.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 05:20 am (UTC)
Hehe. I was wondering if the war of attrition for skin jobs was having much of an effect. I'm also interested in the language choices. 'Skinjob' and 'bullethead' sound a lot like 'gook' and 'raghead' if you listen closely.

Slitheen, of course! He's been eaten by an alien. Oh Ron, please give him back some character, or find the person who was writing him and give them their job back.

I think if AC_Six hadn't intervened he would have let them shoot him. God, I really felt for him.
Wednesday, October 18th, 2006 03:19 am (UTC)
Language - I'm reminded of how offensive imaginary-friend Six found the term "Toaster"

Intervention - you're probably right there.

I completely had to come here to check out your thoughts on the show, cuz well... yeah....candy!

Honey Bunny Oracle made me totally lick my hand and look for chocolate after her scene. I love how cracked out Amanda Plumber is in every role she plays. I didn't expect D'anna to play the Hera card so quickly and cheered when Sharon shot her.

Does Adama know about Hera? I assumed he did but after frequenting a few message boards, I'm not so sure he does. I recall the scene where Maya is givin the baby, but do not recall Adama specifically being there.

It was about frakin time Chief got rid of that growth on his face. Now if only he could get rid of Cally. When she was in the radar scope, I didn't bother to count to five, I just said FIVE! Let her take her chances! Cally is one character I completely cannot stand. Period.

Like Leobuck, I am all over the Gaius/Six relationship. In this instance they actually love one another unlike the one sided nature of the other. Love conquers all.

I found it a bit weird that Six wanted sex after Gaius signed the execution papers. What sorta logic is that? Perhaps she didn't get how it affected him.

Gods forgive me for rambling. I'm fighting a sinus infection. Everything is askew in my world. LOL

Mmm candy.

Oracle: Creepy and knowing and how much do I love her licking her hand. I find the high-tech space civilisation a little out of whack with the mumbling mystic stashed in the temple. Of course rediscovering your faith is a traditional reaction to hardship so I shouldn't whine.

I liked that they played the Hera thing so quickly. BSG seems to be good at delivering those fast punches that leave you breathless.

Good point! Adama, Roslyn, Tigh and Baltar had a big discussion about what to do about Hera and nothing was decided. Later we jumped to Roslyn and the Doc where she informs him the baby will be adopted in secret. It's entirely possible that Roslyn made the decision without Adama and organised it without his knowledge. She knows he is very family oriented after all. It's equally possible, given their close connection, that she did it and told him and he accepted it.

I vote no, she didn't tell him because I can't see Adama spending so much time with Sharon rebuilding their trust while hiding a secret that big.

Oh I like Cally, she's young, passionate, frightened and not hugely bright. I really loved the sequence on Kobol. It's interesting that both the Chief and Lee seem to have settled for the boring women though.

I think DC_6 is just very physical, and sex is also about comfort and reminding us that we are alive. They're clearly not on the same wavelength though - not that they ever were.

Sinus drainage!
Monday, October 16th, 2006 05:26 am (UTC)
I would say Roslin didn't tell him either, otherwise what would be the point of working to gain Sharon's trust. Was it me or was Sharon becoming his confidant? Maybe that is just my wishful thinking. Rebuilding her trust and then keeping that sort of secret will have devastating consequences.

if he doesn't know about Hera how will that affect his relationship with Roslin?

It's interesting that both the Chief and Lee seem to have settled for the boring women though.

Isn't how that always goes? Chief will always love Boomer and Lee, Kara. Dualla on the other hand, shamelessly flirting with Helo. I smelled something rotten in Denmark there. Then again I am not over Billy yet. :-(

Add to Cally: violent, bratty, and vile. She shot Sharon because it eliminated the competition for Chief. Cally'd shoot her again if she could for no other reason that she knows Chief married her out of some sense of guilt for beating her up.

Oh sorry! LOL *blush*

They're clearly not on the same wavelength though - not that they ever were.

You know that truly depends on if she's in his head or not. When she's in his head they tend to get along better! If we all could have such imaginary lovers who gave us a clairvoyant quirk.. LOL
Monday, October 16th, 2006 06:04 am (UTC)
Roslin tried to fix the election and didn't tell him either. It's not like they don't have a precedent. She and Adama survived the election thingy because she accepted his moral position and they came back into harmony. I want to believe Adama doesn't know but I'm not 100% there.

It's just a shame that two of the finest men on the show made what I regard as dodgy romantic choices. I understand the need for love and closeness and the women they were in love with were unattainable and hey, maybe it's just great that they got on with their lives but part of me thinks that they are settling for less and that's a terrible insult to Dee and Cally.

Ah Cally. I can feel your dislike from over here but please consider. She joined the Galactica as deck crew because they offered dental care, not because she wanted to be military. She's young, callow, in a war that destroyed her entire family and spent her only safe moments under the Chief's wing on deck. She had the Kobol experience where one of her team mates died, she was told at gunpoint to do something she simply couldn't do and her only source of stability was cracking up before her eyes. Of course she blames Boomer, Cally was pretty insane after Kobol and had every reason to hate the Cylons on every possible level. It's no surprise that she focuses that on the only available target.

I really liked her response to Boomer in the detention centre. There Cally is in detention for doing nothing (we could debate this since she is clearly a member of the resistance by association). In a detention centre built by the Cylon oppressors. In walks Boomer, the Cylon oppressor, who can't help her get out. From her perspective, Boomer has done nothing but fuck up the Chief's life and her own and now she's there wanting some sort of emotional bond but offering nothing in return. No surprise that Cally, separated from her baby, expresses herself by telling Boomer to get the frak out.

I'm not sure I agree on Baltar and Avatar_6, they had a very tempestuous relationship, she hassled and pushed him day and night and they frequently fought over whether she was real, what his purpose was, religion and anything else they could think of.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 06:39 am (UTC)
I feel you thing for Cally. I just ignore her and try not to throw things at the screen when she's on. LOL

I have a total soft spot for the Sharons. Any againstness with them and I'm ready to bear arms. Grace Park has captivated me with her performance.

I have found this season my feelings towards characters wavers. Characters I wasn't so sure about, I find myself in love with and others my affection has waned.

I'm more in love with Sharon and Helo than ever. Tigh is a character that I completely disliked even more than Cally if that is possible, who I simply love and adore. Perhaps it's cos he's always been a tortured soul and now he's cracked. Even in his moments of pure insanity, there's a gentle nature about him. It's endearing.

Roslin is another character who I just lurve to pieces that I didn't really care for in the beginning.

Has your opinion of any character changed with the onset of the third season?

Monday, October 16th, 2006 07:09 am (UTC)
Well Lee definitely but I'm hoping there's some sort of writing problem right now and that it will be resolved.

Zarek is steadily growing on me.

I'm enjoying seeing Biers develop, she's a lot less scary and a lot more real to me now.

I wouldn't say I *like* Leoben but he got a lot more interesting.

I'm more sympathetic to Ellen Tigh. Not hugely so since I think she's an idiot but I'm feeling her pain.

My love for Kara remains unabated. Ditto Anders who I loved at first sight.

I'm waiting for the Six I grew to love and fear to come back, she's strangely passive right now.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 07:16 am (UTC)
I'm waiting for the Six I grew to love and fear to come back, she's strangely passive right now.

YES!! Six used to scare the hell outta me with good reason. Now she's--I dunno, mousy? The Six I know and love does not tolerate bullshit.

LOL
Monday, October 16th, 2006 07:30 am (UTC)
I think this is partly why it's important to make a distinction between the Sixes we've known and loved.

I don't think the Avatar I'm so fond of has much to do with the Downloaded Six we're now seeing. Or maybe it's just that she relates to her peers completely differently to Baltar and what we're seeing is her treating other Cylons with respect and Baltar like a bright puppy who can be trained to do tricks.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 08:20 am (UTC)
Just before the salt ritual, Helo and Dee are talking.

As best I can tell, Dee says "Take care of the Admiral", and Helo replies with "Take care of our son".

Eh?

Is this a metaphorical son, relating to Lee Adama?

Or is something going on with Dee & Helo behind Sharon & Lee's backs?
Monday, October 16th, 2006 09:05 am (UTC)
I kinda took that to mean Adama's son... as in Lee.
Monday, October 16th, 2006 02:01 pm (UTC)
Yup - "take care of his son." Though I've just looped it a bajillion times and you could read it either way, I think meaning Lee makes more sense.
Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 06:15 am (UTC)
As usual Roslyn is holding things close to her chest. At least she has one thanks to Hera’s magical baby blood. This magical baby had better turn out to be something really special, because if she can't turn vitamin pills into amphetamines all this build up will be lost.

Would it suffice if she could turn wheat into marijuana, or sugar into cocaine? I'd like to see her dance better than Barishnikov, or score more goals than Wayne Gretzsky.
Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 06:20 am (UTC)
A dancing baby Cylon would make me happy but she'd have to also make the cocaine.

Love the icon.
Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 03:35 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the icon compliment, and ditto.

As for the dancing baby Cylon, maybe Number Three could have daydreams where she sees Hera dancing to the song "Hooked on a Feeling (Ooga Chaka)." So her dreams are meant to indicate something very different than what she's interpreted them to mean.
