A friend just gave me a spare ticket to the stage show - given I've never seen the TV show, what do people recommend seeing?

Are there absolute favourite episodes?

I don't have any favourite episodes - it's not really my style of humour. It will probably be much funnier live with an audience who gets it and likes it.

Its an almost entirely running joke based show. So the concept of standout episodes doesn't really work - even particularly funny episodes probably depend on developing the running joke.

That said, I'm not really a fan, so I'm probably not the person to ask. I do have a DVD of the show around here somewhere you can probably borrow if you want, though.

i'd just pick an ep from the beginning, middle and end of the first season.

I heard the stage show is brilliant.

Me, I'd scalp the ticket and go out for a nice civilised meal somewhere instead. It's really small-minded, schoolboy type humour that centres on meanness.

I'm with doctor_k on this. I've seen it on ebay and you can do quite well with this ticket. It's hugely popular and I know people who would like to go.

Curious to know what you make of it. I personally find it quite awful and painful. It swept britain as the meme of the moment whislt I was travelling. Upon returning and having heard many rumours internationally of the magnificence of this humour source I was acutely disappointed. So, I hope this doesn't spoil it for you but you can always throw rotten cabbages on stage or something to liven it up. Or gratuitously eat mangos.

Watch one episode, just so you know what you would have seen, and definitely, scalp the tickets.

It really is a case of 'seen one, seen em all'

My darling children bought the first series for me for a birthday or christmas or something. They watch it far more often than I do.

Having said that, season two dvd was held on our floor at Clarion and I retired to my bedroom with it one day when I was really really cheesed off with everyone. Not because I especially enjoyed it, but because it gave me an outlet for my complete piss-offedness. :)

It's character based comedy. Some of it works and some doesn't. It all depends on how much enjoyment you get out of cringe-worthy characters and situations.
