Sweet, fun, a little bit goofy, first-contact science fiction with a tang of earthy (heh) pragmatism.

Gaia Jones just wants to run a snack bar and what better place to do it than the giant alien facility built by their brand new... 'friends?' from outer space. Her somewhat antisocial life-style takes a hit when she assists an alien with an illness and inadvertently takes on a lot more than she expected.

Mad points for plausible interesting aliens and alien contact.

HI YOU AREN'T DEAD YAY.

*cough* Now that's out of the way, yay new book from her...I met their household at a book table at a con last year and they were all so nice. I fangirled their novels and they fangirled my suffragette cosplay.

She is a cohabitant (in some sense the ramifications of which I do not 100% understand) with Ginn Hale, who has written a bunch of iddy portal fantasies, and then there's a whole batch of stuff around food themes, some of which work better for me than others. They all live up around Bellingham somewhere.

Yeah, sometimes one finds oneself living in a queer feminist collective.

(I am currently cohabiting with my childhood best friend, both children, a (different) cat, and a dog. The best friend has a boyfriend who lives north of Seattle; I have an emotionally complex relationship with my job. Like, this shit happens.)

Pfahaha yeah, January is fired. Honestly the last three years are fired. The entire Trump Administration has sucked balls for both me personally and the nation as a whole.

...yeah whatever else That Bad Man has done he hasn't burned up what a quarter of the continent.

I think mostly that's because he's got no direct responsibility for wildland firefighting, mind you.

Yeah, it is a big improvement over transitory college student housemates. We have had a lot of traumatic transitions (death! divorce! more death! mendacity! adolescence!) and it's been Kind of A Lot but we're sticking together and keeping going.

It is the same job I took a little over five years ago, which remains Complicated.

How are you? APPARENTLY NOT ON FIRE, WHICH IS GOOD.

oooh, osteoarthritis. It's so fun getting older. I mean it's better than death but. Yay new job and new carpet and I hope new meds are working well.
