[Poll #1146770]This is related to a piece of work I'm currently doing on the treatment of women and people of colour in S3.

This is probably an incredibly stupid question but when Americans use the phrase People of Colour does it specifically mean of African origin, or does it mean not Anglo/European?

Wiki has stuff to say on the subject but also says you can go either way which isn't exactly helpful. I'm curious to know where Spanish, Japanese, Chinese etc. fall.

I’ve been gently following the kerfuffle about an illicit audio recording of A Few Good Men which quickly made it onto the megawebnet.

In an age of rampant television piracy, movie piracy and bootleg concert recordings I'm surprised it made the splash in fannish circles that it has. I suspect this is partly due to timing and if this had happened pre-Asylum (must protect the Ackles), pre-FanLib (must protect the Fandom) and pre-Strikthrough07 (must protect the World from the Fandom) then people would be a darn sight less twitchy.

Not that I'm complaining; these events have spurred an incredible surge in highly articulate, ethical, intelligent discussion of any number of important issues. I am awestruck, I am impressed. To my mind, 'now' is always a good time to talk about ethical behaviour.

On the subject of Theatre being sacrosanct I do have a few thoughts. )

So [livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow was talking about Genderfuck in Stargate Atlantis which is a fabulously interesting topic and brings up a lot of questions about whether gendered behaviour is about the brain or the bits.

So this has been on my mind for a while now and various people have born the brunt of it been supportive and I promise now I'll find something else to mumble about.

Greeks Bearing Gifts is my favourite in terms of engaging with what it means to use your ability on your friends. This is ironic because Torchwood is my least favourite show in terms of character development, plot and myth-arc.

First just let me say I love Heroes, I love it LOTS, and I love it for it’s steady character development, plot arc and humour. I love the geek-talk, the effects, the variety of characters and the way the various abilities are being explored.

I adore Supernatural but it’s not for the plot, at least not at episode level. The overall myth-arc fills me with love as does the angst, intense focus on family and those oh so manly brother dynamics.
