Some of this simply made me happy. Things like Dean flirting with the Metallicar, the boys creepily stalking Gordon together and Sam smacking down two vampires before getting whacked across the head with a telephone [I really like the way the bell rang when it hit him]. I liked Gordon being all cheerful but dead inside. I loved Sammy knowing exactly where the farm was because he’s good and Dean’s silly attempt to even the score by offering Sam a free punch to the head – take that raincheck Sam, one day you’ll want it. I really liked the way Dean made up his mind when he found out Gordon killed his own sister. Brother’s forever.

I thought Sam’s big moral pout-burst at Dean was rather abrupt and that Dean should be allowed to have friends too – Dean was totally understandably bonding like a barnacle to the first person who gets him in forever. It’s a pity Gordon was just there to show Dean that he can’t open up because when Dean trusts people he gets the smack-down. How come that doesn’t happen to Sammy huh? Where are the episodes where Sammy trusts someone and it turns out to be an awful mistake? I know, I know, Meg was evil too, but I don’t see that interaction as Sammy baring his little heart to his new bestest friend.

The vampires were interesting; it would have been a little more interesting if they were actually engaged on a moral level rather than the practicalities of survival. Not killing because hunters are an effective deterrent seems awfully, well, it hasn’t worked in the middle east. Amber Benson was fabulous and I wish I knew more about her back-story – how does she manage the nest? Why is she in charge?.

I also want lots and lots of screencaps of Dean all bloody and it's wrong, wrong, wrong.
