Birthday present for
zorana after we took a trip together and I scoffed at the notion of her buying a painting while we were there. I have now successfully finished a painting AND made a birthday present AND made good on my promises. Wondering if I should now dismantle my little painting nook or line up another challenge. Many thanks to
chaosmanor for the lovely (and far nicer) photography.

...I mean it's not like we can legally get married but it feels right. It really does. We all discussed it a few days ago then went shopping to see if we could find something we all liked and took ourselves out for dinner.
Happy Valentine's Day QFHC <3

- Kenobi and Kiba mugged a 2yr old last night :( He had a very seductive yellow ball, they picked it up off the ground and we gave it back but there were kiddy tears of ball stealing distress. *winces*
- Life seems to be composed of tiny things right now. I've cleaned most of my room and eaten a lot of fruit and read a lot of fanfic.
- I have a new, fluffy pillow and one of those banana ones for reading with - it's great!
- I've ordered a bunch of yarn from Etsy and I'll hopefully find out what it actually looks like soonish. I feel some knitting coming on and I totally blame
littleboot for this. - I replaced the AC adaptor that Kiba ate - ironically it was the recharger cable for the phone+tablet battery recharger thingie - which took me multiple attempts and an eventual actual electronics store (Altronics) who were excellent.
- I've survived yet another week of OTW stuff Six weeks so far… and that's taking a lot of my energy right now.
- The sunrise is lovely right now, I can see soon I'll be getting up in the dark but not yet!

- Hobbit again last night with zorana - made better by giant beanbags. Still fun, Thorin's constant smouldering makes me giggle though.
- Doing all the personality quizzes! Colour Personality Enneagram
- OTW update: Five weeks so far… did I tell you I have a manifesto?
- The Redcaps are blossoming again \o/ I also saw a tiny little cocoon - hard to photograph in the wind but so delicate! So precise!

- Dentist has replaced a 15 yr old filling, it takes ages for me to go numb so we chatted a fair bit. They think the fact that a tooth now vibrates when I call the dogs post-braces coming off is hilarious and then I TOTALLY blew his mind by pointing out that Tolkien says dwarf gender is not visually distinguishable and that half of Bilbo's travel companions are probably women. I know dwarf women were actually 1/3 of the dwarven population and rarely traveled but since they are post-war refugees I think anything goes.
- Beach with woofers was sad for Kenobi - on leash until stitches come out .. soon... sooon

- Kenobi is recovering from having 4 lumps removed - he obviously thinks he's fine (for which I am grateful) but quite likes being allowed on my bed and is indulging us.

- Kiba still haaaaates thunder and spent this morning bouncing outside to defend us from the sky until I gave in and locked him in the laundry - at least this way he's not scrambling madly up the outside walls :(
We did a glow in the dark themed party with glow in the dark body paint and UV lights strung up in the house and near the inflatable pool. I had a lot of fun giving people temporary tattoos and letting
fred_mouse's youngest draw all over me. There were a lot of mustaches which I don't entirely understand but are clearly important.
artisanat kindly gave me permission to use his photos from the night so here's a lovely one of people wearing glowstick art in front of the stargate.

My beloved
transcendancing is moving across the country, her stuff and her car are going too so we are making a road trip of it in late January.
If you want a postcard from somewhere on the way now is the time give me a postal address!

When the QFHC bought our house last year we were told by the previous owners they participated in the Christmas lights tradition. We bought in late December, had 3 couches and the fridges for New Years, and moved in January so lights weren't exactly on our radar back then.
I thought it would be nice to do something this year and since we're not big Christmas people I did something the entire household could get behind. A stargate.
It took me about 2 months of weekends - although a lot of this was thinking and workshopping - and on that note special thanks to
maharetr,
chaosmanor and
cupidsbow, Andy,
madradish and the many people who contributed wonderful encouragement and a steady stream of ideas.
Here is the entire process.

- Pre-storm skyline was amazing yesterday - that tiny black dot in the left-middle is Kenobi running back to me. I took this using the IOS6 panorama feature three times then using Autostitch to sew the three layers together
- Kiba is getting better at coming when he is called but is far from reliable. He also hates thunder and spent last night vocalising on my bed
- Home from work today due to no sleep last night. Bleh

- Recovery from laproscopy proceeding, have failed to adhere to 'no heavy lifting for a month' rule but that was never going to happen
- Cheque from grandmother's estate surprisingly hard to deposit, this felt very final. I have not been able to delete her contact details from my mobile either.
- If you scotch-guard your finger, your iPad will not work as well. Don't ask.
- Kiba likes red apples and green beans, the fruit bowl is not safe :(
- WTF Perth

We have a new woofer in our lives! Kiba is 1 yr 4 months (July 2011) and an energetic boy who can apparently clear 6" fences. We're utterly smitten and will photograph him continuously from now on :p His settings are FULL SPEED and nap... with a gap in the middle for cuddling.

chaosmanor has taken some wonderful photos of him.

His (speculated) birthday was on Friday, we believe him to be 11 so I got him two new balls and chased him around the house with them. At the park he promptly bullied the owner of a throwing claw into flinging balls for him and had the BEST TIME EVER.

He was pretty stunned when we got home and I broke out the doggy painkillers. He spent the afternoon and evening either slumped on various soft things or hobbling stiffly around looking sad. I figure it was worth the sheer glee of the park earlier.
I also found this photo of him on my phone from back in June when it was too cold to be happy ;p

I fell like I'm 99% working night and day but I found some time to trial a panorama application that stitches your many shots together into a single view.
View from high up - picture appears to curve in the wrong direction but tres cool view.
L. took this, long distance avoids the curve problem
Or this water feature where it's less obvious
Totally reverse curved but makes me feel like an extra on Bladerunner

- Melbourne trip for Adacamp was awesome. Melbourne was everything people said it would be if they had left out the weirdly claustrophobic tram cables webbing the sky and the anti-alfresco lifestyle.
- House [1] Settlement on 24th; may possibly have resolved all issues. Termite treatment guy turned out to be one of those contacts you make when you both have relatives who were exiled to Siberia in WWII.
- House [2] Totally moved in, boxes still everywhere and new hobby is drilling holes in walls, cursing, and installing shelving.
- Local park is fantastically dog friendly and even has a pond for the swamp monster to fling himself in. We will have to play obstacle croquet as the turf is a little rough but it should be good for picnics, BBQs and emergency bubble blowing.
- First jog around the park was under a lovely sunset and todays weather is confusing the heck out of my 'summer' brain.
