  • In the spirit of research I have now read Chapter 1 of What to Expect when You’re Expecting (J. gave it to me). Where is my uterine replicator? I would totally trade the flying cars for one.
  • Did 75% of my readings for Org. Behaviour; felt affectionate recognition for a suspiciously large number of concepts. Googled planned team exercise for first seminar, internet sadly lacking in successful solutions
  • Registered for a tour of the Reid Library (whee!)
  • Drooled over mastiff/collie puppy with huge paws
  • Saw a midwife/naturopath and shared even more personal information than usual, have instructions to steal [personal profile] maharetr’s magnesium supplement and RELAX, must also submit a chunk of hair for mineral analysis (but I don’t waaaaaaaant to chop my hair off)
  • Leverage S02E07 – the one we were all waiting for based on the guest character was as funny as I had hoped for
  • Slept for 12 hours, should probably have had a nap shortly after just to make sure
  • Made food for slashgropers and cleaned up some furballs in the corridor (could be mistaken for kittens at first sight) also managed to slice my fingers not once but twice (that pumpkin soup wasn’t 100% vegetarian, sorry!)
  • Lovingly collected and watched a lot of vids – post Vividcon fest – thanks to all who came and made it a great afternoon and evening

...oh god that sounds so wanky... but please, don't let my PC language cringe stop you supporting an important cause.

On Sunday, August 16th 2009, join families, friends and community members who support same-sex and gender diverse couples at our community picnic and support day, “Families for Freedom”. Wear something bright or rainbow coloured, and bring a rainbow umbrella if you can find one (you never know - it may rain on our parade!)

Date: Sunday, 16th Aug 09
Time: 11am - 2pm
Location: Cottesloe Beach Foreshore

  • Project managed [personal profile] maharetr within an inch of her life
  • Up to date on Better off Ted (my crush on Veronica is epic) and Leverage; seriously love both shows
  • Washed the woofer, have run out of dog soap and used up last of dog polish but still have flea shampoo – not as cool
  • Investigated toadstool macro-photography
  • Hosted [personal profile] lemmings's birthday party which boasted many baked goods, musicals and singing. We revisited Dr. Horrible, random song/dance vids, Buffy, and Scrubs, and Bride & Prejudice then took a tour through some highlights of Bollywood. Sharukhan for the win!
  • AD&T meeting bright and early, combined being hyper with being underslept and settled on a very quiet afternoon to compensate

We plan to test enhance this by getting together at the House of B&D and watching favourite episodes, vids and generally enthusing - there may be dressing up going on as well.

Saturday 27th @ 1pm

All welcome, we'll be making pancakes with sinful toppings to compensate for the James St place being CLOSED before 5pm so bring your favourite condiments to share :)

Despite clearly stated goals of sleeping + resting the long weekend didn’t quite work out as planned.

Saturday:
  • Beach with woofer: chocolate croissant from Abhi’s bakery, men with cameras stalk woofer in the surf (yes he is that pretty)
  • Fremantle Markets: am reminded again why I hate crowds, fail to acquire tree-frog leadlight sticker or a copy of the Skinner's Box book.
  • Visit brothers: provide snack food, receive appreciation. Watch football, be saddened by team, I’m surprised WCE lost by only 18 points. Baby brother has broken his foot falling out of a tree and is in a half cast up to his knee, mother has apparently been fetching things for him all week, no-one told *me*. Am not allowed to illustrate cast, take photos instead :p
  • Do laundry: clean room, admire ceiling, vacuum ceiling, vacuum feather boa accidentally – can’t quite believe it just ate the whole thing, didn’t know you could do that.
Sunday:
  • All OTW monthly meeting: arrive 5 mins late (7:05 am Sunday), deliver AD&T report, and celebrate progress
  • Cut grass: kill mower, buy whipptersnippter, cut grass more, rake, get blister (have perfectly circular sore on my thumb, looks like someone stubbed a cigarette out on me), throw ball for woofer into flowering bush, woofer covered in little blue flowers – knew it had a purpose (flowering bush, not woofer).
  • Slashgropers: loan Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to… everyone? Pimp Better Off Ted (made of awesome, go watch it, really), see remade Sanctuary pilot (not awesome) and pilot for The Unusuals (which is looking pretty decent)
  • Download Adam Lambert performances from American Idol – yes I know :(
Monday:
  • OTW – do unspecified *things* mostly involving the next code deploy, designs for Collections and Challenges and pondering an Admin interface re-design.
  • Coffee: spend an afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] girliejones for coffee – win!
  • Dinner: spend evening with [livejournal.com profile] flamebyrd and S.O. and [livejournal.com profile] maharetr starting with Indian food and followed by icecream. Meet [livejournal.com profile] pentapus, take [livejournal.com profile] pentapus home (bootleg American smuggling operation)
  • Made [livejournal.com profile] maharetr and [livejournal.com profile] pentapus watch Better Off Ted 1x01 & 1x02
Tuesday:
  • Froze neck, stayed home, read and slept.
  • Didn’t have to *make* anyone watch Better Off Ted 1x03 & 1x04 *grins*

Thank you to everyone who came to the Valentines Day Fundraiser for the Bushfire Appeal and thank you for your donations. It was lovely to see you there.

[livejournal.com profile] mynxii and [livejournal.com profile] angriest are amazing people and I’m glad to be part of a world that has them in it. I’m also glad to be in a world that has glow sticks and croquet sets (which combine very well in the dark).

PS I can put my sunglasses on with my toes :p

Thank you all so much for making my birthday celebration part of slashcon, for the excellent company and the eleventyone delightful conversations and thank you to [livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope for turning up and being all interesting, cute and clever. Apologies again to [livejournal.com profile] chaosmanor for the impromptu Little Red Riding Hood re-enactment, I had no idea we were so loud. I saw some new vids, heard some wonderful stories read out loud, learned some more about vidding, a lot more about podcasting and had some very dubious crocodile porn written for me. Yay!

Thank you also to [livejournal.com profile] missyjack and [livejournal.com profile] riverbella for the virtual gifts! I have been blessed both in love and material gifts this birthday *clutches book from [livejournal.com profile] maharetr, shiny new second monitor, new pjs and copy of Bladerunner*. [livejournal.com profile] callistra baked me cake too!

Oh and there will be Boondock Saints and Sahara this Saturday at the House of B&D by the way.

Dinner in Fremantle with [personal profile] maharetr , sunset over the ocean, live music at the Fly by Night (aussie soft pub rock / folk schmoop / blues), some light household maintenance (at least one task per week damnit), discovering it’s a vacuuming day (the Universe decides – we don’t) beach with the woofer (there are few things in the world better than putting your face into the side of a freshly sunbaked, clean dog), dinner with mother and brothers.

Have also started watching Carnivale and Kyle XY, both of which I blame on [personal profile] ascetic_hedony. Have seen a truely ridiculous amount of media in the last six weeks.

Torchwood S1 which has great individual episode writing and no overall story - this drives me crazy.
Doctor Who S3 which I thoroughly enjoyed. John Simm was wonderful.
Ultraviolet the TV series which was dark and interesting .
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm which was just ridiculous.
Smallville S6 which is cracktastic, I blame [personal profile] cupidsbow. I shall watch S7.
Eureka S2 which is even stronger than S1 and still very amusing.

Pancake breakfast and book love at the (New) House of B&D. There will be pancakes, high sugar products, fruit and the reading aloud of Chapter One. Bring enthusiasm, self, and things you like on pancakes.

Saturday 21st July starting 9 am1. All welcome.

1Given [livejournal.com profile] maharetr will have owned a copy for 1 hour and 59 minutes by this point we really can't expect her to wait any longer.

This being on leave is really working for me. I made it out to Baker’s Hill today and had the pleasure of wrapping trees in wire (darn those tree-eating horses), the joy of being snuggled by Grevillia (who turned out to be very cuddly), the sheer unmitigated glee of setting fire to things and, of course, the chance to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] zebra363. Win!

There are few joys that can compete with sitting out under the stars, roasting marshmallows and keeping the camelids awake.

It's City Food and Wine Month this March and various restaurants are doing special $15 lunches. Who wants to come?

Let myself or [livejournal.com profile] mynxii know on or before the Monday just before if you want us to book you a seat (2 days notice).

Bright Comet McNaught (C/2006 P1) may be visible this week to those of us in the southern hemisphere.

We're going to have a picnic at Reabold Hill in Bold Park on Tuesday the 16th from 7:30 onwards. Sunset will be 8:26 pm and McNaught should be visible low on the horizon west of southwest at around 9pm.

Suggestions for food so far indicate we should all bring random stuff to share. I shall bring some picnic blankets, whatever foods strike my fancy and some cutlery/crockery.

Made furry ears and tail for [livejournal.com profile] kae_dash , fixed [livejournal.com profile] maharetr 's leather pants and did fake pirate tattoos, did makeup and nails for [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony for Pride. That's my creativity splurge for the year! Pride was fun, dancing at the Court even more so. Dancing at Sin after the bestest of the best. Have been offered $500 for [livejournal.com profile] maharetr, in retrospect I should have offered to trade.

Bollywood Burlesque Circus Comedy Cabaret thingy at the Fly By Night was of mixed quality; was feeling the lack of sleep but thoroughly enjoyed myself and feel there should be more Bollywood in my life.

I am loving having a sewing machine. Have just finished girlifying ([livejournal.com profile] mynxii terminology) my new hiking pants. They are a bit shorter in the leg and now have a waist. I want to live in a city that has a big enough population to support women's sports gear darn it. No I don't. I love Perth, love, love, love.

Woofer went to the vet and has been dignosed as having a soft tissue injury in his right elbow. He has drugs and strict instructions not to exercise which he will ignore the second the drugs kick in. Ah well. Hope it will be enough, if not, we go back for X-Rays.

Have also updated Supernatural recs post. You already know I have no taste so no complaining now.
