Comet watching time

Bright Comet McNaught (C/2006 P1) may be visible this week to those of us in the southern hemisphere.

We're going to have a picnic at Reabold Hill in Bold Park on Tuesday the 16th from 7:30 onwards. Sunset will be 8:26 pm and McNaught should be visible low on the horizon west of southwest at around 9pm.

Suggestions for food so far indicate we should all bring random stuff to share. I shall bring some picnic blankets, whatever foods strike my fancy and some cutlery/crockery.

I have binoculars which I'm sure will get plenty of use, both before and after the comet appears.

Tori and I are going to have to head straight there from work, and won't have time to pick anything up, especially if we have to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up it.

If we give people money, can someone bring extra stuff for us?
