A Fistful of Charms by Kim Harrison. Fun, very cheap, supernatural. I’ve been overexposed to hot, dense adrenalin junkie heroines with boyfriend problems. The series is decreasing in attractiveness and I don’t think I have the stamina to read the next book.

The Hallowed Hunt by Lois McMaster Bujold. Set in the same world as The Curse of Chalion and Paladin of Souls. This has wonderful layers of intrigue and characters to die for; I’m particularly in love with the warrior-prince-poet Jokol and his pet ice bear. A somewhat cranky swordsman Ingrey collects the body of a murdered prince, custody of the killer (a lovely young lady) and gets plunged into a spiritual, magical and political whirlwind.

Blood Debt by Tanya Huff. Fun, cheap, supernatural. Last in the series and a nice, solid case. I like Vicky Nelson and her personality problems; I also like her supernatural problems. This made me happy.

The problem at the exchange has been fixed and the House of B&D is back online; was a very good week for reading and gardening.

Plan B and I Dare by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller are the conclusion to the Liaden Universe series and have much charm. It's alarmingly like Dragonball Z what with the tendency to power up all the main characters but their charm and the feisty plot makes up for it. Space Opera.

Blood Trail, Blood Lines and Blood Pact by Tanya Huff. Myopic ex-detective with personality issues battles supernatural evil while bouncing back and forth in her threesome with a handsome Italian detective and a 450 year old vampire who just happens to be a prince. I really don't have any taste do I?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JKR. A lot of the fun here is being part of a large group of passionate people who care deeply about reading this then talking about vigorously. All in all I enjoyed it but have many things to say on theme and outcomes.

A Deeper Sea by Alexander Jablokov. To my surprise this was published in 1992 because it reads like a cold war novel. I was attracted by the lure of first contact with dolphins that had agendas of their own instead of being portrayed as cheerful, playful people who like to recite dirty limericks. Overall I was disappointed, I wanted it to be a science fiction tale and it was more of a morality play.

Blood Ties by Tanya Huff. I’m watching the TV show right now and it was fun to see how much of the show was taken directly from the novel. As a book it has merit if you’re into cheesy supernatural vampire/detective shows – which I am.
