Amusing moment at Sydney airport watching a small child trying to use one of the public computers but handicapped by being too short. He was trying to google 'ffjjjkljlkjsdj' which is what you type when you are standing under the keyboard.
Arrived in Nadi airport wearing clothes designed for self defence against Sydney weather (where it was raining) and promptly abandoned them to the bottom of the bag.
Was impressed by Fijian taxi driver's fearless merging - I assume they have a utopian afterlife to look forward to.
Flew to Kadavu next day and checked into
Mantana Beach Resort 10m off the beach cleverly hidden by coconut trees and greenery. Spent the next five days on boats being delivered to diving locations; suiting up and hearing the cheerful cry of 'pool is open!' before sinking into warm, tropical water.
Saw sharks feeding, moray eels, and manta rays gliding through the water exactly like bats don't fly but should. There were lion fish (one snuffling around the coral that was nearly kneeled on by a mesmerised diver with a camera), a banded sea snake and amazingly beautiful fiskies of all descriptions - Bannerfish: the pirahna of Fiji. There were also some of the most delicate and lovely soft corals I have ever seen.
I recommend it.
Met up with a good friend in Sydney and ate lunch while sitting and admiring Botany Bay - can only assume ancestors had a thing for hotels and yachting.
