I just don't get it; they clone a sexbot for Rose and then erase all that Donna being so wonderful.

It's not just that RTD chose to erase Donna's memory - he actively told his audience that the *only* reason Donna did anything clever or brave in the entire series was because she was destined to briefly be half-Doctor, and the moment that was stripped away and she was *only* Donna, she was immediately cursed to be irritating and vacuous for the rest of her life.

So, basically the answer to Donna's season-long "but I'm not special! I'm just a temp from Chiswick!!" is "yes, you're right. You're boring and crap. Go away."
