Are completely justified by sunrises, now if I could appreciate them on the porch with the woofer and a gently steaming cup of tea my life would be complete.
T1's bf was brave enough to insinuate that he probably own more dodgy books than me. This led to a bit of a showdown and categories are now open in 'dodgy religious texts', 'dodgy self help books', 'dodgy fantasy titles', 'dodgy non-fiction', 'dodgy fiction' and 'dodgy comic novels'. The winner has to provide chapter headings for the forthcoming 'Dodgiest novel ever'
Having impulse bought books 3&4 of The Windhover Tapes by Warren Norwood for $2 hoping book 1 will magically appear next week, I know my taste can only improve. Original decision to buy book 2 entirely based on title Flexing the Warp and picture of woman with three breasts.
Much much adoration to
jupitah, who also impulse buys books and gave them to me as a b'day present. Angela Carter is a genius and Black Venus + The Bloody Chamber were inspired, the latter moving into the 'buy and give to friends' category at once.
Finished Earth by David Brin and when I say 'finished' I mean chose to finish out of loyalty to the man who wrote Startide Rising. Loved the nice little segues into geological history, liked a couple of characters, was quite fond of the elemammoth (mammophant?) but was very disappointed about the aliens thingy.
Finest moment was newly sentient planet singing 'I AM I AM I AM' and hearing the universe saying 'SO WHAT'. Planet stops and contemplates the meaning of existence in a sarcastic universe.
