As venues go the Belvoir Amphitheatre has much to recommend it as a picnic spot, alas, Management is firm on it being a live music venue (no bringing useful things) and I now have an urge to make the perfect sized outdoor cushion. It’s very nice sitting outside under the trees though and we amused ourselves chatting, people watching and knitting.

The music was great – especially Blue King Brown who turned out to be creative, passionate and funky. The Cat Empire did a show that was less about the dancing and more about showcasing their considerable musical talents. This was a little bit of a shame if only because they’re so much fun to dance to.

Have shiny new CD with a song that makes me want to drive out to the desert and dance under the stars.

Did dance much (lots and lots and lots), did see many, many people from my life when I was 19 (but taller and more manly), did get hugged, did get beer poured on my trousers (will it help them grow?), did get told "You made me eat pumpkin soup!" by someone I babysat when she was four (did not tell "you were cute" stories), did give my shirt to someone who needed it more than me. Am going to play loud music and dance around the house ...when ascetic_hedony gets up tomorrow.

Am very pro-surfer-boys taking their shirts off and posing. A lot.

Was a fine way to spend the weekend, my lovely mother lent me her car so woofer and I did an early morning beach run on Sunday and got to enjoy that amazingly beautiful tide-out, huge beach, shimmering flat water effect that is particular to early summer mornings.

We saw some women walking their horses (no ball throwing in evidence) and then woofer thought it would be a brilliant idea if he rolled in the sand till he was absolutely coated and tried to carry it all home.

The benefit concert at Point Walter was middling to poor in terms of talent and perfect in terms of lying about on a blanket snoozing on someone's leg doing absolutely nothing. The last band was bouncy, African and fun and lent itself to much dancing and bouncing around followed by limping and being carried.

Am sad I don't have the time to do African dance classes anymore and even more sad about the effect it had on my hip. Am reduced to limping and swearing I'll do my exercises. Really. I will.
