Had dinner at Sandrino's with haunted_attics, J.,
maharetr and N. and did that thing where you read the entire menu, try to decide between three things you really want then impulse order a fourth thing at the last second. The ravioli was very nice, so was the sticky date pudding, shall have to try it again when I don't have a cold.
We settled in at a table at the Fly by Night and listened to Schvendez who sang some melancholy, angry and whimsical songs. The woman singer has a nice, strong, dark voice and they suffer from 'young band' syndrome in that I don't think they quite know what they sound like in the venue.
The Dirty Three were quite something, bombastic, bitter and nasty and that was just the patter. The music is powerful and passionate and I've never seen rock done with a banjo and fiddle so successfully. Some great sound.
