CONCERT:   Hot Swing Cool Jazz

Sat, 16 Oct 2004 18:00 - Fly By Night Musicians Club, Fremantle.
There could be dancing, I think we should all go and I think we should dress up.

I was going to go dancing and then I got distracted by training, chocolate ice-cream, gardening, having a bath, cuddling the woofer (who is strangely well behaved at the moment – I think he thinks I went away because he was bad), cuddling [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony (who graded today and is fabulous) and watching The Phantom Menace which is a most attractive alternative and involved the couch and a pot of bruise cream. Ah happiness.

Your presence will be sadly missed but I shan't feel unduly abandoned.

I'd love to come to Pride, can I have details and so on.. keep meaning to grovel and ask to be accepted into the scary slashgropers community since half the blooming socialising seems the be channeled through it ;-p

Was recently reminded by a rather witty person how much I love Black Adder.

how much I love Black Adder

Certainly enough to spit water over hapless fellow watchers.

It wasn't so much spitting as laugher induced snorting - and given you were the one exposing me to an addictive, controlled substance you're just lucky you happen to be insoluble in water.

I'm doing a workshop on "Creekline Restoration" that day and it doesn't finish until 5:30, so I couldn't get there on time from out my way.

Wow, is "Creekline Restoration" about digging and chainsawing, or planting?

Am I on the wrong track? Do you have a creek?
Friday, October 8th, 2004 05:52 am (UTC)
I do have a creek!

It is supposed to cover "assessing the health of your waterway, improving the condition of stream foreshores, planning & permit requirements, creating riffles (whatever they are) and the use of large woody debris to control erosion and create additional habitat."

You get to do the coolest things.

Now I'm jealous - if you get all excited and decide to refurbish it can I come?

Riffles are the shallower, faster moving sections of creeks - they add O2 to the water for the fish and water creatures to breath and make creeks pretty!

By all means! My creek is only a winter one though (well, May to Nov/Dec), so I'm not sure how much of what I'll learn will apply to it.
