Paul at UWA in the Human Movement area is looking for more people for his weight-loss through exercise gym program.

If you think you could get to UWA for 1 hour, 3 times a week and want a reasonably gentle regime then let me know and I'll introduce you – anyone who fits into the category of 'could lose some weight' is eligible.

You get a free, 3 month personally managed gym program and he gets lab bunnies to measure for his control group.

Getting started involves a fitness test, a stress test (mandatory UWA thingy to make sure the exercise doesn't kill you) and a DEXA scan1 – which is the –real- reason to do this.

1DEXA Scan = Full body composition scan, you can find out how much bone, lean muscle and fat you have AND it comes out in a pretty picture!

I just want the DEXA.
Do they have a program that involves putting on weight?

*is interested in that* :)

Lets hear it for the skinny people :p

Though if I was really serious, I probably would go to a PT and get him to test the areas that need improvement (probably cardio).

*growls at skinny people*

For moi, I'm pretty sure it's all about the bone density stuff.

This is social justice at work... I may be rejected by most fashionable clothing stores but I get to have interesting tests!

*is all jealous*

I'm definitely interested in this, provided I'm far enough into 'could lose some weight' territory and he doesn't mind waiting until after next weekend. :) How does one go about being introduced?

Send a photo and $20....

Don't make me call you a dirty man again.

Fine, don't send the photo. The $20 is fine by me.

[grin]

I'm planning on going briefly tonight - I shall pass on your contact details if this is acceptable to you?

Am not training this Wed/Fri because hip pain is reaching unendurable levels - am hoping restipoos will cure me.

Please get me some info - if I can get to bed a bit earlier, I wouldn't mind doing the exercise before work - probably Mon, Tue, Thu if that would suit thingo's schedule.

Will do.

Sounds potentially interesting and doable. Although I am rather attached to being able to walk to and from the gym I use now.
Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 10:34 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it works for me because I'm driving to work and working in Perth.
Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 11:36 pm (UTC)
Yes, I'm very interested. I'm not liking the scan, but I would really like to have someone force me to exercise as I can not do that myself.
Tuesday, July 26th, 2005 11:42 pm (UTC)
Done - I can give UWA_Paul your details?
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 04:11 pm (UTC)
Yes please. Could you please forward on my mobile number or better yet my email address: either to my home email or to mr.booboo@gmail.com

Thanks.

I thought I saw an article on the body scans, but they wanted people younger than 30? Cos that counts me out. Otherwise, I'd be interested in going to bootcamp a personal trainer-type, so long as it's not too early, say after about 6.30pm (i have to feed and walk the dogs after work).

Age is not a restriction - timewise I'm going in for about 5-6pm myself.

If you want to email your contact details to maia dot bobrowicz at dtf dot wa dot gov dot au I'll put you in touch.
