We've noticed more pained whimpers and post-exercise limping of late so he just started a 4-week regime of Cartrophen injections to see if we can make his life less painful. Kenobi stresses out loudly in the vet waiting room and the vet was very nice about me asking if we could administer the shots at home. They gave me some tupperware and an icepack to transport the remaining 3 weeks worth of shots home in safety and asked me to call in once a week and let them know how it's going.
The Sookmonster got a post-vet consolation ball-onna-rope and bounced around like a bouncy thing when we got home. I was worried that 'is a little quiet in the 24-48 hours after the first injection' which is listed as a possible side-affect (along with vomiting) translates to 'is hideously depressed but unable to communicate because he is a dog' so I'm relieved and glad to see him acting happy.

Quiet = usually stoned, in my experience. Ozzie (the white fluffy one) is terrified of storms, and if you give him a Valium as prescribed, he floaaats through life.
