Shouted a man in a clipped British accent as he jogged past in the pelting rain. He was wearing a knee length raincoat and a pair of bright Union Jack shorts.

It was bucketing down, windy and the ocean was melting into blustery grey. It was absolutely beautiful - perfect, wild and bleak.

I loved my Dalmatian deeply and was broken-hearted when she died but if I had taken her out in weather like this she would have hidden under a bush and cast imploring glances at me to take her home where it was safe, warm and dry. The woofer doesn't even notice, he trots, scampers and gambols along having the time of his soggy little life.

The run went further than I expected but not as far as I would have liked; am pleased that legs gave out before lungs. Got back to the car absolutely soaked and realised clever me brought no towel. Stripped off outer layer and drove home in underwear on the assumption that anyone silly enough to be out in this weather would be firmly admiring the road.

The woofer then proceeded to mug me – getting wet is an excuse to play the towel game!

Is there a collective noun for a group of mandolinists?

Have discovered Connoisseurs Crème Brulee. I’m doomed.

Oh that sounds like the best fun ever! I did not run this evening - slippery, hilly suburbia in the rain after 8pm just didn't appeal. Random Fremantle-ness sounds lovely!

*is tempted*

Promise you'll live further north?

Am currently madly in love with being able to walk to work through green leafy West Perth.

When you say brulee am I saying caramel, I wonder? Called flan or something equally ridiculous in the US? Yellow sort of dish-shaped deserts with sauce on top? I'm yet to try the connoisseurs version, but if it's anything like their ice cream *drools*...

If they're cream caramels, I was raised on the White Wings packet mix version, which sounds horrific, I know, but they're so yummy! Restaurant versions always taste horrible in comparison because the sauce is the genuine caramelised sugar which my taste buds promptly reject as burnt. *starts craving white wings*

[swoons]

It's a creamy vanilla icecream with bits of custard and caramel and custard in it and it's VERY nice.

I must confess a terrible secret: I don't think I've ever tried it.
I'm thinking that when we manage to get together to watch Firefly, there should be much bringing of desert, and much eating of deserts.

So what are you up to this weekend?

I'm going to this anime thingy on Friday night and TKD from 1100-1300 on Saturday but otherwise am available.

Sunday's good. I just have to remind myself to leave by 6.30pm or so (there's a slashy combined b'day thing that evening). I'll bring the creme caramels, you supply the brulee and we shall binge, yes? *eg* What's a good time to rock up?

See you then!
