• Sale on my house fell through, potential buyer unable to sell her property and contract with real estate agent concludes on 31 October. Agent is not optimistic about selling. Am currently investigating renovating bathroom with a view to renting it out to pet loving people who hate rent inspections
• Counselling interesting, valuable and stressful. I am a bit wobbly on and off right now
• Bought more personal jewelry (a ring and a brooch), this is an extension of the Performance Grooming for Work Purposes thingie wherein I find I like having nice things because they are, err, nice. This is also me indirectly working on my touch aversion since on bad days having things clinging to my hands or touching my neck is a Bad Thing
• Supernatural back for S7, was pleasantly surprised and will tentatively keep watching
• Hawaii Five-0 back, also pleasantly surprised by some things - irritated by others, suppressing irritation in favour of enjoying show
• Work practice of doing slightly longer days Mon-Thu and leaving early on Friday has been great for visiting people and going to uni

Oh, I'm sorry about the house. Are you still able to finance the house you are buying?

Me too, although the rental thingie looks like it could work out.

Yes, we have a thumping great cash deposit and the combined buying power of the four
of us means even with my mortgage we can still get finance - we're doing the paperwork right now \o/

I've been pretty happy about renting through an agent. All you really need is for the place to pay for itself until the market is better.

It won't quite cover the mortgage, I'll talk to the bank we end up going with for the new mortgage and see if I can get a better deal but right now I'm expecting to be paying M1 + M2 less rent which is not great.... but doable.

Good luck! We (3 of us) are going through a similar process but a few months ahead of you -- cash deposit + 3 ppl = could buy NewHouse before selling OldHouse[0]. Now on 3rd buyer for OldHouse, but this one does actually appear to be serious i.e. has instructed solicitors, applied for mortgage, etc etc. Thumbs crossed as we were just about to start looking at renting it out which would be financially Less Good, especially with upcoming baby-related salary changes.

NewHouse is lovely, though.

[0] Given the timing of my getting knocked up this is a Very Good Thing; although as that was deliberate I guess we'd have delayed had the housing situation been different. But then I'd have been narky about it, so...

Thank you! We're pretty keen on NewHouse (it's gorgeous) and yeah, renting is survivable but not nearly as financially happymaking as selling would be for me, even with house prices as low as they are right now.

Sorry to hear about the sale falling through but glad to hear you can go ahead with buying the new place even so.

I liked but didn't love 7x01 - I've read too much fanfic to be happy with what we get on screen!
