No CONTENT AT ALL. Wow, this was an episode that added nothing to the series. It was also really out of character - was Dean seriously that freaked out the entire time? And Sam, I think the writers are struggling with what it means to have no soul - I think the being able to lie to the Truth Goddess thing, not sleeping, no empathy BUT sense of humour, able to fake it for a year, able to fake it partially for Dean and now suddenly he can’t even comprehend being able to fake it? Get a plan and stick to it writers :p
I did like the whole Sam goes off and gets laid thing, but it was slapstick humour and I liked it for itself, not because of Sam’n’Dean.
Merlin
Morgana is like sweet, sticky poison - it’s kind of magnificent and if I wasn’t a feminist and simultaneously appalled I’d be swooning at her feet. I think I’m swooning anyway. It pisses me off at the end to see Merlin and Arthur bonding with their mentors when Morgana was denied both their support.
…and seriously, no WAY would Uther and Arthur compete at the same time - possible simultaneous death of the king and the heir? WHAT’S WITH THE HELMET DISCARDING! Oh gods, Uthur and Arthur taunting each other was awful. I did like Uther acknowledging Arthur throwing the fight, it helps make up for his awful parenting.
Also, if YOU were a magic user and you wanted to fight in the tournament wouldn’t it make more sense to make yourself faster and a bit invulnerable? I do find myself wondering if magic rings ALL betray their owners by falling off at opportune times.
I do like Gillie twisting what Merlin said, telling Merlin he’s been effectively brainwashed. I’m uncomfortable with pitting the magic users against each other - although really, Merlin is the ONLY one who is working for/with Uther and that is only because he is mystically linked to Arthur.
Also, tournaments are horrible, nasty and brutish.
