Probably not for long. Since the license of Apple's AppStore is in direct conflict with VLC's license. Apple would have to change its license for the VLC app in order to make it available through iTunes. Which they won't do, they will simply remove it from the store. So better get it as long as you still can. ;)
I must admit that I don't even begin to understand all the different licenses and how they conflict with each other.
I simply read an article that someone from the FSF filed a formal complaint about the VLC app for this reason. And they noted this preference case as an indicator that the VLC app will have a very similar demise.
