Richly detailed urban fantasy. Velody came to the city to become a dressmaker and on her first night a naked boy fell from the sky. Cue several years on, one vaguely remembered kiss and a fantastical city that parties by day unaware of the desperate battles enacted in the skies at night. The Creature Court needs a leader, a Power and Majesty who can lead them into battle and maybe even save them from themselves.

Good grief. Read in a single sitting including refusing to put it down as I made lunch, reminds me of Anne Bishop in terms of emotionally attractive writing. I’m just sorry this is book one of a trilogy as I’m now hanging to read what happens next. The first few chapters are available online if you want a taste and I think you do. There's also a rather cool trailer on youtube.

I know you knew this was a book one when you loaned it.

So glad you enjoyed it!! Also, I'm sure I mentioned that it was the first of a trilogy, but the good thing is, we now get to try and wait patiently together :D
