I'm not convinced that a military metaphor was the right one, and I think the whole 'enrol to vote' message needs to be more prominent. But I do like that they're trying to use tools like Youtube.
Until the very end, I had no idea what they wanted, and that annoyed me.
Plus I really hate that they set up the competition as between Abbott and Gillard, and I know it's like that at every election, but that's not actually how our system works.
But mostly it just looked really shoddily done, whereas other campaigns Get Up has done looked pretty cool.
GetUp is not official, it's an independent advocacy organisation. Right now it's agitating for people to enrol to vote because if you don't by the right time you can't but I still love that they leverage this kind of medium.
Australia is currently donating troops to Afghanistan and Iraq but that's not a new story; it's more of a general principles thing for me as well.

Though I too am sort of uncomfortable with the military metaphor, on general principles rather than any specific knowledge.
