I automatically upload all photos I've taken to my flickr account as Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.0 Generic and I was recently asked if it was OK to use a photo in a short-list for the next edition of the Schmap Sydney Guide. I said 'sure' and one of my Taronga Zoo photos has since been included in the guide.

I like that people know they can take/ask/use and I like that they did.

Oh congrats! That's awesome.
I think I drove my family nuts the first time somebody asked to use one of my photos for something. It's always interesting to see what catches the eye of certain people and not others, and then be able to point to the finished product and go 'I made this!'.
