In order to prepare [livejournal.com profile] maharetr  for T4 (she is sadly lacking in background) we shall be catching up on Terminator movies on the Monday public holiday. We'll kick off about midday - all welcome.

The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

There will be hot soup and cold smoothies.

Working that day, though it's a good idea. I might do something similar this week, I have at least one of the movies on DVD.

Sounds good. I don't think I have seen any of the movies at all.
What would you like me to bring?

and I don't think I have your address? :(

A very important question:

Are we watching the Theatrical version or the Director's Cut version of Terminator 2?

The Director's Cut is far superior.

"Cameron has a propensity toward assembling long movies, only to see them trimmed for release. It happened with Aliens and The Abyss, to the detriment of those films. "Director's Cut" versions of those films have restored some of that lost footage, and the narratives of those movies have benefited greatly. In Terminator 2, the restored footage isn't crucial to the plot, but it adds a degree of character development lost in the theatrical version." - http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/t2ultimate.php

""Terminator 2: Judgment Day" was the follow-up to his 1984 breakthrough film, and like "Aliens", its length was in need of some trimming in order to increase its commercial prospects. In the Special Edition, fifteen minutes of must-see footage has been restored." - http://www.mediacircus.net/dc.html

"However, I find the real highlight of this disk (or disks) to be the movie itself, I mean WOW!!! You get three, I repeat, three, versions of the movie. One is the original theatrical version, featuring no cut out scenes (the worst), the special edition, featuring 16 minutes of additional footage (second best) and the Extended Special Edition that you need a code for (the best) which features 18 minutes of additional footage, as well as an alternate ending." - http://www.amazon.com/Terminator-2-Judgment-Arnold-Schwarzenegger/dp/0784010188

The special edition / director's cut is definitely worth it!

Why yes, yes I do.

The real question is, do I know which box it's in...

*goes off in search*

*returns 30 minutes later, dusty, dishevelled, but triumphant*

I'll bring it tomorrow.
