Dear Show, well done. I loved the creepy-arse camera angles during the honeymoon suite talks and I love how every single character is wallowing in shades of grey. Please stop using bitch to mean weak, evil or submissive, it pisses me off.

Dear Sam, that little trip through your head was a trifle heavy handed but please don't think I have anything but deep appreciation for your manpain and your first single, perfect tear. You're all grown up! You are *so* the 66th seal and if not you're missing out on some lovely (if obvious) symmetry with Dean. PS: How long were you in the panic room? You have no beard but went into withdrawal very quickly.

Dear Dean, you had me right up to the bit where you told Sammy to never come back... really dude. I do love how clearly this episode shows how much you want to save Sammy and how much he means to you as an ideal if not as a person.

Dear Bobby, you great big softy. I loved your little contretemps with Sam outside by the car.

Dear Castiel, words cannot describe how much I love you, your phrasing and your inexplicable agenda. "...as swiftly and as obediently as you did your own father's..." Yes we all know how that turned out, Dean is great at obeying his father except when Sammy is involved, could you have given him a bigger loophole?

Speculation:

• S4 will end with the boys finally finding out the war between Heaven and Hell spells nothing but trouble for the human race and despite betrayal, lack of trust and the World's Biggest Ball of Angst, the only one you can trust to have your back is another Winchester.
• I want S5 to be Winchesters versus the Rest of the World and Heaven and Hell. We can still have lots of angsty bad-relationship-history moments and end S5 with them both dying horribly, choosing each other (humanity) over Heaven or Hell and becoming something uniquely human a la American Gods... I want lyra_wing's story Dust in the Wind to be the ending so badly it hurts me.

Ahaha, was wondering about the strange phrasing. It gave Dean pause too.

I usually liked Anna, but now she pissed me off (probably because she was spouting the Sam hatred ;) ).

I think the need for tension between the boys has made the show writing them strangely polarised. I like to think of them as more flexible people, I try to justify it as a 'Sammy's growing up and Dean can't cope' thingy but I end up thinking of it as a plot device thingy :(

Phrasing - I'm of the opinion that Castiel may have been dragged back for reindoctrination, but he's not stupid and he's still Castiel. Which is to say stubborn, deeply concerned with justice and kinda fond of Dean. I think he grew up a bit and got sneakier. *hopes*

Anna - yeah, are they looking for a way to write her out? Or just trying to create an atmosphere of complete isolation for Winchesters...
