I'm samvara on Dreamwidth (tnks JP) and will be continuing to post here until it is possible make an an orderly transition (the exits are to the rear of the plane and above the wings) so there will be plenty of warning.
I've had people ask 'Why Dreamwidth?' and I answer:
I've had people ask 'Why Dreamwidth?' and I answer:
- Run by people who understand fandom and have compatible goals (see
strikethrough 2007) - Feasibility; I'm confident the people running this know their stuff.
- Code fork (see fabulous new 'subscribe/give access) features
- Community, specifically a community that supports women in technology. I'm delighted to work with skilled, competent men but they have a hell of a lot more support mechanisms in place compared to women, and I want to help create possibilities for women.

Another one, which is hugely important to me is that they are committed to being open source and ad free. Those were two big factors which made me feel good about joining LJ when I got my account, and I liked being able to tell dubious friends "there are no ads".
These things have both changed since the sell to 6 Apart, and PR failures like strikethrough have shown that while there are still good people on the LJ Staff, stupid decisions have been made and were handled extremely badly.
The reasons I continue to use lj are more because of the people here than the features, although there are many features I like such as control of security settings and threaded comments.
I'll keep using lj, and cross post everything, but my money will be going Dreamwidth from now on.

I'm really looking forward to this for many of the reasons you outline above :)

I'll add you anyway!
Personally, my home has never been LJ in a permanent way. I resisted joining for a very long time, so I'm looking forward to a gradual transition of everybody else to (hopefully) a better place.

The thought of that better place has been a source of comfort to me!

If you are able to throw an invite my way (or if there is someone on your flist willing to) I'd appreciate it. ^___^

It may well be that I end up living on both sites for quite a long time. I'm not expecting mass fannish/friends migration (although it would be convenient for me).
It launches on the 30th of April (Open Beta) and account creation will be turned on so you will not have long to wait.
