What angle is your roof? 32 degrees facing north is the optimum orientation.

After some scrambling on the roof with a tape measure and a spirit level I can tell you the roof is 54 degrees off the horizontal facing NE.
Hence the need for brackets!

Yep, they should be 4-10cm clear of the roof to ensure adequate cooling. Aside from angle of incidence issues. Time to call them to fix it...
