Personal best: 14th overall, 2020 points.
Am very happy, have three magnificent blisters and am quite stiff.
Did camp overnight, not favoured in terms of good sleep but very favoured in terms of much planning time. Got a little complacent though and could have packed backpack and prepared feet a little better.
Looked at several route choices and managed to dissuade Shane from the sexy but deadly NW clump of hilly controls. Planned an ambitious 40km route knowing it was going to be at my utter physical endurance limit and had to cut a section when we reached 5:30pm and had more than we could do in 4.5 hours remaining.
Probably did in the region of 30-35km and am very pleased with overall fitness and quality of navigating.
Heat was a problem, the weather must have topped 30C and going up hills would leave me overheated and exhausted. I drank an astounding amount of water although it later turned out to be slightly less astounding and my camelbak was leaking through a loose bit. Easily fixed.

Interesting moments included:
- Wil and Steve bolting past in what had to be the wrong direction as we trotted down a hill.
- Utterly overshooting a control even with the perfect dam to remind us where we were.
- A bee getting trapped in Shane's hair and panicking, me freeing it and getting stung when, in a fit of bee rage it tried to kill my shirt. Thankfully I didn't get much venom and was fine in less than a minute.
- Realising my jumper had fallen off my backpack and finding out some 10 hours later that some lovely team had brought it in to Admin.
