Turns out it didn't rain and we had a breeze for most of the time - this didn't stop the wasps from thoroughly investigating our fascinating activities but thankfully they were more curious than defensive.
It took two days to take off all the tiles (hurled merrily from on high), replace all the guttering, lay [insert technical word here] support thingies, insulation and roof sheeting. Ridgecaps to go on over the week. Middle brother J. was fabulous, showing how to do things to our crew of 7-10 friends and a couple of his workmates came and did some of the more complex stuff. D. slipped and went through the bathroom ceiling with a foot but was thankfully fine, later R. caught up and put a foot through his bedroom ceiling as well.
It turns out most roofers can touch their toes, what with spending most of their working life bent double :p
