Sadly I think WB would have to start slaughtering kittens before I willingly boycotted The Dark Knight, but then I don't own several hundred Batman comics for nothing.

There's a very, very long LJ post needed about this issue because it's fairly complex, and also nothing new - after Cutthroat Island went belly-up there was plenty of talk that a woman could never support an A-list title.

Please to be writing said article!

Ironically I own Cutthroat Island and think it's hilarious.

[grin] and men should be excluded form universities - after all they are far too hormone driven to be able to benefit from scholarly pursuits.

Haha! Amusingly enough, I've just seen 300 - which is (a) Warner's break-out hit for 2007, and (b) so filled with testosterone it's crazy.

I've only seen vids, it looks very pretty and very umh, can anyone say 'eroticised violence' children?
Monday, October 8th, 2007 04:34 am (UTC)
It's crazy ridiculous stuff. I *think* I enjoyed it, but that may have been the amount I was making fun of it.
Monday, October 8th, 2007 04:39 am (UTC)
Utterly over the top can be fun!

Monday, October 8th, 2007 07:16 am (UTC)
That's why I enjoyed it. although some of the people I went with did mot appreciate me muttering "lies, all lies" when the narrator talked about spartan customs.
Monday, October 8th, 2007 07:31 am (UTC)
It did inspire a fried to give me an excellent precis of the Battle of Thermopylae...
Monday, October 8th, 2007 07:42 am (UTC)
I bought a copy of The Histories by Herodotus the next day, and read it aloud over lunch.
Monday, October 8th, 2007 07:46 am (UTC)
How readable was it?
Monday, October 8th, 2007 07:32 am (UTC)
300: "Haha! Those boy-lovers of Greece!"
Me: "Here in Sparta we only love MEN!!"
Monday, October 8th, 2007 07:40 am (UTC)
Damn right!

Also, Spartans kill wolves as there initiation? And there's me thinking they went out and killed some slaves.

And, oh yeah, the Spartans had slaves! There was only one line in the whole movie about any of the Greeks having slaves. Grr. Also, WTF was Leonidas doing having sex with his wife?

I Am Legend...

Cool! I always thought that it was about the right length for a movie.

Getting a little off topic at this point, but if you've yet to see The Omega Man (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067525/), then it's time you did :)
Monday, October 8th, 2007 04:07 am (UTC)
...and can I just say

I Am Legend (Will Smith ... Neville)

*snerk*
