Sam, if you walk in on Dean getting down with the Doublemint twins you will see things – maybe you should have thought that out a little more clearly. Please let Dean know how important he is to you, it will fuck up his deathwish but hey, as Prodigy and Boy King you will need an amusing side-kick. Also please to be developing your demon powers – you will need them.

 Dean, your pathetic “I’m going to die cough” was hilarious and it’s good to know that there are no depths to which you will not sink to manipulate your little brother. I think you’re freaking the hell out but also genuinely feeling the loss of a huge burden of responsibility (and a certain yellow-eyed demon). You really have given your all, no wonder you’re light-headed. PS I thought you’d already crossed twins off your list and your novel demon kidnapping technique should be patented. Also; god you look younger when you shave – is this deliberate? – The shaving, I mean.

Mysterious blonde, please be a new love interest for Dean, please put him through hell and give him something to live for, he doesn’t have enough emo man pain right now. I want you to be an evil Slayer and I’m really fkn disappointed that you are yet another pretty blonde. Also; can Sammy borrow your Knife_of_Demon_Slaying?

Isaac and Tamora: the Family that Slays Together (except for the dead daughter). You clearly have some sort of mental dislocation problem because no-one who’d heard of the Winchesters would a) say that near them or b) treat the boys like puppies. I must also ask, if you’re that experienced how did you fuck up a demon hunt that badly (please, either be competent or don’t pretend).

Bobby I love you like crazy and I forgive you for not wearing your hat, in fact you scrubbed up very nice and your non-hillbilly bits are showing. Do be helping Sam with his research and don’t let those disrespectful Winchester boys get away with anything; you’re all the father they have left.

Every episode has showcased the boy’s issues against the MOTW, interesting to watch them face off against the seven deadly sins. I’m sorry to say I only started counting the demons when we were in the bar; was hoping for seven good guys *looks wistfully around for Ellen*.

1. So they all confront Envy, whose role I think was more to raise questions about who are the bad guys? After all, he’s just getting down with his demonic self while the Winchester brothers are CLEARLY in violation of the natural order. The corresponding virtue is Kindness (A Bobby virtue? Sam was trying really hard to be kind to Dean - it's not coming naturally though). Non-physical resolution (exorcism + death of host - Tamora killed him?)
   
2. Bobby is paired with Gluttony something he may very well have issues with although Abstinence as the virtue does seem to fit with Bobby’s solitary lifestyle. Non-physical resolution (exorcism).
3. Tamara with Wrath was kinda cheap, I assume they needed to pair someone with Wrath for dramatic reasons and naturally it’s the women who crack and go bolting out into the night *grumble*. Patience wasn’t something Tamara had either. Violent resolution.
4. Dean with Lust was interesting, he’s always been so direct and cheerful about his lusting and she was Evilly direct and Evilly cheerful as well. It didn’t really come off as a sin. Violent resolution but she survives (drowning in holy water followed by exorcism (assumed) by Bobby).
5. Sam gets Pride, Sloth and Greed with Pride taking centre stage. (Humility isn’t something Sam is any good at but I thought he made a noble go at supporting Dean for the first part of the episode – I’m also amused that being a supportive brother lasted all of one week before it was hammer and tongs again). Violent resolution but not by Sam (death by hot_blonde).
   

On the topic of hammer and tongs, Dean just laid it all out and expected Sam to deal with it, what a relief for Dean to be able to just let go and how awful for Sam. I was wondering if it was going to be a secret or if the boys’ relationship has shifted enough for them to just trust each other on certain things – lots of impressively in tune, silent communication in this episode. The bond between them is powerful enough to talk  to each other and yet there is still strong motivation to hide stuff from each other and keep up the dramatic tension.

Yes, we all loved the little hand waves – who doesn’t have a smart, dangerous and expertly trained kink?

Kripke, for god’s sake, if we have to watch women being treated like this can we at least have Ellen back? Points for the bleach drinking, it was hideous and the overall visual style was fantastic.

Speculation:

• Mysterious blonde is a supernatural thingywhatsit.
• Dean is going to sabotage Sam’s research efforts and really piss him off.
• Dean is going to fall in love and not want to die… a lot.
• The demons will also fight each other.
• Mary’s “You” + YED’s “Plans” + Pride’s “Boy King” = more Dessstiny for Sam
