Yay for public holidays - I've spent today pretending to do nothing and snoozing gratuitously on varied surfaces just to make the point.
I've also:
I've also:
- been to my baby brother's family birthday party in which much hilarity was shared by all
- done birthday things with my Pop in which the official present was delivered (battle of the birthdays continues apace)
- heard a talk on Growing up in a risk averse society which I have a number of feelings about
- had the second half of the aborted haircut
- watched the Grand Final (heh, flogging)
- played a lot of cricket with the brothers' evil crew (gave 15L of ceiling paint for a housewarming present)
- dug out an Audi TT which is a very sexy car but can't drive over anything
- disassembled a scarecrow as it turns out it doesn't just scare the herons; it scares everyone
- meandered through the Pride Fair and utterly failed to buy books
- watched the CW's pilot for Reaper which is cheap and funny - I shall watch more
- watched Day Watch which a lot like fanfiction - bodyswap! parrots! escaped ferris wheels!
- had three meals bought for me in a row
- done laundry, bought food, cleaned my room and cooked dinner

I was interested in that one, but couldn't make it that night.
That was a very substantial scarecrow!

I do think that the points made about recreational play areas being batshit boring in an effort to make them zero risk for children were very valid.
Other points about children having less unsupervised play time, less freedom to roam and possibly being damaged for it I am less sure about.
The scarecrow was supposed to stop the pond fish population from being decimated by a heron but it looks a little too much like Pop and having him sitting there was kinda creepy.
fanfic
what's more, bodyswap with someone who spent half a century as an owl, resulting in angst!lesbian shower scene WTF waterfall!1!!!
