Two days of sawing, hacksawing, drilling and excessive screwdriver use plus some unpacking of boxes has left me incredibly glad I'm ambidextrous enough to use both hands for most tasks. I now have floor to ceiling shelves coating the largest wall in the spare room and shan't be getting down books by authors in "A" or "B" without a ladder. [livejournal.com profile] prk you are absolutely right, I broke three drills bits, two through sloppy technique and one from tripping over the power cord and hurling the drill to it's doom (not on my head though, I get points for this right?).

I've unpacked 3/4 of the boxes and all the speculative fiction is now up excluding random books that snuck into other boxes when I wasn't looking. The remaining 11 boxes are waiting for a burst of energy to unpack texts, non-fiction and fiction. I also found my 'to read' pile which makes me very happy

[livejournal.com profile] mr_booboo this means I have found your Dresden Files books if you wants them - I haven't had a chance to read yet so I hope you're not in a hurry.
[livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony do you have my copy of Hunters Oath by Michelle West? I'm just curious, everyone should have a chance to love that book.
[livejournal.com profile] japester do you have all the Merry Gentry books or was that someone else?

Awesome bookshelves. Lots and lots of books. Have your read Neal Asher? Its sci-fi and I'm just really getting into them.

Thanks! So glad to be able to see them again - was impulse buying because I had this weird thing going where I clearly didn't have any books.

Neal Asher - no, should I start with Gridlinked?

Aie thats the first one I read. And then the bookstore guy at White Dwarf sold me 'The Skinner' as the next one... which after the main character hadn't appeared and I was half way through the book I realised probably wasn't actually the next one but was a good read so I can't complain.
The actual sequel is the brass man which I've just started.

I really liked The Skinner. I love the ideas behind it, though it go a bit gory in places. And Gridlinked was good. Lots of little clever lines and sarcastic AI's.

Hah, it's not just me who does that!

*feels reassured*

Congrats on an awesome job without injuring anyone - the drill bits had it coming.

I need to see them to feel reassured - clingy much?

They got what they deserved!

Indeed I do. They're the three I managed to let you not have to pack ;)

I've reserved some space for them... not a lot of room to expand though ;-(

Yep, Hunter's Oath is safe. Still haven't read it, as it seems that multiple series have just realeased their latest book. Only got two more to go then it's back on the shortlist.

I'm working this Friday, and should be able to make it next Friday (with book).

No rush, I was just making sure I knew which remote storage location it was in.

Would love to see you for an evening!

Am very jealous.

Also looks like a lot of work - congrats on the excellent set up :)

I'm hoping to check LJ a little more often and be generally less absent online once the masters is done. Into the final project countdown and hoping to graduate in December [fingers crossed]. Will be re-investigating this idea of having a life outside work shortly afterwards I hope!

Good luck with the masters - I figured you for being a busy, busy girl.
