A six issue comic book 'prequel'.

I have mixed feelings about this. The visual style is not one I'm attracted to; it looks very rough and half done. This may be deliberate and is appropriate to the show in that it's surreal, dark and grim looking.

I'd like to know more about whether the content is supposed to support the show or whether it's an AU spinoff because based on my first reading it is the latter. The overall quality isn’t so high that I'd continue to read it on it's own merit, but I would read it for back-story.

I'm really interested to knwo where people will slot these into canon. For example in the first one they have Mary's birthday in Nov, where WIAWSNB gave us the date as Dec 5.

I suspect epsiode canon will continue to rule. Other material such as John's diary and Jos hunter's blog from the website have never 'caught on' as canon.

I think the show has to win out, the comic and the blog seem very AU to me. I want them to be more integrated because I get so much fun out of speculating.

I appreciate them putting the show out in so many different mediums though, it adds an extra element of fun.

i think the buzz word for it is "360 degree immersion" - no really! with many shows having websites and faux character blogs, and comix and other associated material. Hey guys - its called fandom ;)

its interesting that the SPN website dropped the hunter's blogs concept but they have kept some elements going like the Pad of Definitions. I am most keen for the Demon guide and epsidoe guides coming out. I'll read the novels, but suspect they want live up to the standard of our best fanfic.

I love it, use every medium available!

It's interesting looking at legitimised fanfiction like the Doctor Who novels and so on - the quality varies considerably.

The whole relationship between fandom and the creators/actors fascinates me, some of it is so vibrant and creative and some (thankfully a small, small amount) is rather icky.

I like the idea of this. I always feel like there's backstory I've missed to supernatural (thus my confusion at ur psychic kids post). I re-watched the episodes earlier in the year and was surprised to see I'd seen all but two.

Hey I've just read the first three Buffy Season 8 comics. I'm lovvvvvvvvvvvvvving them. And I finally got Anita Blake Guilty Pleasures issue 1 so I can read them all in order (I have up to 6).

It's a very comicy week!

Ah well that was partly me assuming... [hides]

I've got Buffy #1 but haven't picked up the next 2 yet. Happy happy.
