I agree that friendship precedes love but I don't think loving someone necessarily means you are friends as well.
I know someone from high school whom I am very clear on loving but am also clear on not being friends with due to life circumstances and certain behaviour. The love is there, but the friendship is not; the love is unconditional, but the friendship relies on certain needs being met.
This says to me that love and friendship are not dependent on each other and that one doesn't have to be an extension of the other.
Like, I love my parents, but find it very hard to be friends with them, as much as I'd like to be able to. some ex-girlfriends, I have loved but we didn't make good friends. yet one, was distinctly a better friend than lover. the permutations abound!

Not in the "You've passed three dates and given two boquets, advance to level love" sense, but more that love grows out of some friendships.

Yeah, cos powerlevelling your girlfriend in order to bypass having to grind your relationship skill doesn't sound very romantic.

Yeah, my father abounds in the love but friendship is more of the limited.
