Vampires by Various. Short stories, some good ones but nothing really stood out.

Grunts by Mary Gentle. Couldn’t finish it, wanted to, tried, gave up. Techno-military fantasy. What the orcs would be with Marine training and weapons.

Mistrals Kiss by Laurell K. Hamilton. Gah. Merry, get off your back and do some something interesting, I'll give it one more book then I'm giving up.

Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. Fun, interesting. A different pace and style to what I usually think if as Gaiman but really enjoyable. What the hell do you do when you find out your father was Anansi the trickster-spider god and you have a missing brother and your life is suddenly going to hell.

Fake Books 1-7 by Sanami Matoh. Adorable. Gay cop manga. A really nice mix of romance and cop story.

Grunts is a really unusual terrible miss for Mary Gentle I felt. I've not only managed to never finish it, but I've even kind of forgotten what it was about. It sits in my bookshelf, and I think "meh" at it occasionally.

Yeah that's pretty much my relationship with it.

Do you still have Grunts? I saw it in a bookshop the other day, and while I couldn't muster up any enthusiasm about purchasing it, I'm still mildly curious.

I loved Anansi Boys. The wickedness of Gaiman is what draws me to his writing. His character is pretty damn wicked in this one...

I like the idea of Gay cop mantra... infact your bookshelves are going to have a serious stealage rate when I get back to the land of the sun... you have been warned.

Wah, we're on daylight savings time and are currently +9. I've got dinner with mumsies tonight - can I call an hour earlier?

Hey, sorry I missed the phone. Try me a bit later? Or tomorrow I'm in... and the sword man is back so you can speak to him too...

I discovered Mary Gentle about a week ago. Why hasn't anyone told me about Valentine before. Software hacker and Renaissance Fencing specialist, I *need* her phone number immediately! (-; Although diving into the middle of some sort of story arc I'm really unsure as to what is going on, not sure this matters?!!
