Fables by Bill Willingham - Vertigo Comics

I found out about Fables on boingboing - one of the esteemable Cory Doctorow's recs and 81 issues later I'm deeply in love and buying the collected volumes. I can't do it justice without the ability to wave my hands at you but Cory's review is excellent as is the Fables summary of Vol 1.

All the fables that escaped the war with the Adversary are living in seclusion in New York - that is, if you can pass for human. Snow White is Fabletown's Deputy Mayor, the Frog Prince is the cleaner and the Big Bad Wolf is their pardoned Sheriff. Fables take us through a fascinating series of story arcs (which I am informed is slightly over half finished at #081) including a massive war that features Cindarella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Boy Blue and many more well loved characters.

Dear Diary, the state of me

I've taken a few sick days in the last month and headed to my GP last week to describe my feelings and life. She told me to take a week off immediately and I'm glad she did because this week has all the symptoms of a really bad cold without the infection (exhausted, floaty, headaches, throat trying to close up, desperate need for sleep, vague etc.) *grins* This is in itself interesting to me because it seems the cold part is just the snot.

I'm also thinking that it's probably time to grow out of the push-till-you-collapse lifestyle... I wonder how you do that.
