Oh boy, oh boy. C'est tres beautiful.

The Napoleonic wars with a dragon airforce. It's military and terribly British and fantastical with that rare and lovely quality of being both intensely personal and wide sweeping. Captain Laurence is delightful as an impeccably correct officer who gives up his naval career to secure a valuable resource for King and Country.

[swoons] Borrow it from [livejournal.com profile] cricketk. I did. I need my own copy.

Hee! I knew you'd love it!

We've just got to get everyone who also likes Sharpe/Hornblower/Jack Aubrey to give it a go.

And all the people who like dragons.

It works! It totally works!

Clearly we should write a book about dragons!

and pirates
and explosions
and thigh holsters
and geeky, witty men

I'm already in love with it!

Geeky, witty men in thigh holsters!
Piratical dragons wreaking explosions upon an unsuspecting populace!
Geeky, witty men blowing things up while tossing around piratical one-liners!
Dragons in thigh holsters!
Geeky, witty pirates wearing thigh-holsters and riding exploding dragons!

Really, lets just go back to geeky, witty men in thigh holsters and savour that for a while.

Is that a pirate in your thigh holster, or are you just happy to see me?

Readily available locally. Definitely at Fantastic Planet, probably also available at Dymocks/A&R.

Or I could just loan you my copy?
