And it turned out to be a pentet not a trilogy but that's OK because I finished book three in a state of determination and hypnotised curiosity as to whether it could get any worse and the location of books four and five aren't of great concern to me.

How could the person who created Ender's Game and Songmaster be responsible for such tripe? It's repetitive and preachy and the whole boy/girl thingy was getting on my nerves and I am still waiting for a character I could like or even loathe.

Waaahh. I feel betrayed.

At his worst preachy and boring, at his best - heartbreakingly insightful.

Every Orson Scott Card book teeters on that line - but i'm finding more and more that he falls over into preachy and boring. Have given up on him really.

I think I got lucky, of the small amount of his stuff I've read it was mostly the good stuff, wading through the dross is making me pouty.
