Genius!

Dora and Nora, the illegitimate daughters of an eccentric family of acting greats were raised by their landlady Mrs Chance. This is the story of their lives as showgirls and the bizarre and humorous intertwining of their lives with the family and father who is never quite theirs.

Their uncle Peregrine is a fabulous character, a man who drifts in and out of our tale - frequently fabulously rich and with an attention span that -might- fill a gnats navel.

Thank you again to [profile] juipitah who has fabulous taste in birthday presents. I haven't read all her books yet but I'm working on it.

Wise Children, I must admit, is not one of my favourites. But I am glad to hear you are enjoying AC.

Ooh, that sounds fantastic, I love Angela Carter, her writing's gorgeous, like...quality chocolate. I've only read her short stories though. There's one, Company of Wolves, which is gorgeous, that was made into a movie by Neil Jordan. I do recommend it if you haven't seen it. It's quite pretty, it reminds me of those Storyteller films, but, you know, darker.

Also, I'm just lj-ing your invitation cuz I dunno how else to contact you, but if you're free on Wednesday night (that's the 8th, Sept), please, please hop along to the Moores Gallery, for the opening of the Sonic Difference exhibition.

Doors are open at 6 and there'll be a live thingy at 9, but we (meaning Jasmin, Jenny...) are gonna be there some time around 7.00, so we'll drop by if you wanna come with us, and Maya will possibly show around 8.30

I emailed James about it too, (fingers crossed that it's the right address). At any rate, you won't be stuck alone with the scary chick who woobies embarrassingly at movies.

I think it's gonna be a gorgeous night, so please come.

RSVP err...I guess through lj?

Yups, feeling total love. - The Bloody Chamber was the best - I'm reading Nothing Sacred right now.. got distracted after downloading vast amounts of X-Men fic so it's going a little slowly here.

I am so in.
That's the Moores building in Freo right?
I'll pester James - in the nicest possible way.
You aren't the only one who woobies at the movies :p

Oh, yes, Bloody Chamber is just gorgeous... *sigh* now I've got to go hunt down some of Angel Carters novels and stuff.

You're reading X-men? Ooh, what are you reading? Is it movie fic or comic fic? Hmmmm, with movie fic, I've recently become in *love* with Xavier/Magneto as a pairing, it's so *canon*. But, my primary pairing is Wolverine/Cyclops, because Jean died, and it makes logical hurt/comfort sense to me. ::shrug::

And yup, Moores in Freo, I'm so glad you're coming! And yeah, I'm all for pester power. ;)

I'd offer to loan but they all migrated to our lovely cricketk's - can still loan if you are interested.

I'm reading a fair bit of Wolvie/Rogue with a smattering of Iceman/Pyro, have failed to find any good Beast/Wolvie as yet *sniff*

Looking forward to it, not entirely sure what 'it' is but anticipate enjoying anyway. How can I not with the company involved?

Sure! Whenever, thanks! I usually get them from the uni libraries, the one thing I really miss about uni is the library.

I've seen some really wonderful Wolvie/Rogue around the place, it's a certain brand of pathos which makes for interesting writing. I feel the chemistry between the actual characters is just naturally there.

Sorry, I can't help with the search for good Beast/Wolvie, I haven't seen anything either. But if you're interested, there's a Beast/Iceman that's supposed to be really great by Te erm, "Handbasket"? something along those lines. I must admit, I haven't read it, so reports of it's brilliance may have been greatly exaggerated and I wouldn't know.

Hmmm, I've lost my programme unfortunately, but it's kind of about globalisation and what effect that's had on sound technology and therefore sound art/music... I think.

Sonic Difference is happening all over the place right now, so, yeah, you could more or less walk into any gallery/museum, and there will be a component.

Aaaand now I sound like a pamphlet, sorry, I'll take my gallery hat off now.
