That it kinda sexy but I don't want to have to plug it in to something else to load my massive e-book collection. I want something that successfully fakes being a smallish paperback novel.
It looks better than I expected a Sony device to be -- its crucial to be able to put non-DRMed customer created, and for that matter non-e-book, content on it, and Sony initially seemed only to care about the Sony store content (which, given Sonys general DRM overzealousness, may well suck).
I definitely want something like this, anyway, though it may not come from Sony.
And something that comes loaded up with classics via Project Gutenberg is more appealing to me than something that will let me buy the latest stuff only via Sony.
Ah, so the copy protection is the usual Sony arse, annoy the customer intensely in the hopes you'll get a bit more money. Two months, that is going to really impress people who have to put a book aside for a while and then discover that they have to buy it again.
The device looks OK, but I can't imagine wanting to use the Sony service for much at all.

There will be copy protection (http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/07/15/1089694481092.html?from=storylhs).
I'm slightly sad about the no-colour but also intrigued by the microcapsules. Would like slightly more than 10MB onboard memory too.
I'm also wondering if the 200% enlargment means my grandfather whose sight is failing would be able to use it.

But for reading PDFs, might be useful.
