Liar Liar was on TV last night and Carey Elwes played the limp dicked alternate love interest of the ex-wife. God it was depressing.

His contribution to The Princess Bride has elevated him for me.

When Cary Elwes isn't Westley, he's just not Cary Elwes.

You know how you were saying you wanted to be caught on film leaping over a tennis net in front of an adoring crowd? I'd quite like to be caught on film buckling my swash and generally behaving like Geena Davis in Cut-Throat Island.

Alas, he doesn't turn up in many good movies, although Robinhood: Men in Tights was funny.

Guess what arrived in the mail early this morning?

Cutthroat Island!

Oh I KNOW

Which was why it was so depressing to recognize him in this other role.

I liked him in Shadow of the Vampire and The Cat's Meow, when not swashbuckling he should be in period pieces set in the 20s and wearing a white linen suit.

Yay, Alan Alda. I don't generally recognise the actors people mention in this meme!

I loved MASH. I should go forth and watch many episodes.

..and suddenly I realise I used Xuanzang Sanzang not Masako Natsume (or Tripitaka) from Monkey Magic.

*sigh*
