Crepe style and 'mountain' style

Much happy pancake eating was achieved, much kudos to
maharetr for the fabulous batter and slaving over hot stove. Thank you to ALL for the massive fruit contributions. Had a lovely day chatting, batting balloons around, eating, napping, talking books and generally enjoying the company of some damn fine people.

Also, it's a bit weird for me to realise that 'pancakes' is apparently one of those words that does not translate across international borders -- what y'all had was very much what we'd call crepes, as pancakes here are less eggy, thicker, and made with what is essentially a quickbread batter. There shall have to be a pancake comparison, sometime. In the name of fostering cultural understanding, you know.

Yups, I would call them crepes too - pancakes tend to be a lot bigger. I think this was just classic Aussie tendency to use the less classy term.
[grins] Serious pancakes make good stacks and can be high and fluffy and absorb astounding amounts of maple syrup. We're talking about making waffles next.

Oh, good. I feel better knowing that this was not one of those words that ambush me.
Waffle day! That's excellent. You guys should just, like, have breakfast parties all the time. Though thinking about that, it seems to happen with a fair frequency anyhow, so maybe nevermind.

Though I do tend to associate big round bikkies with the word cookie, from an early childhood of watching the cookie monster on Sesame Street *g*

Smooshes to Wobo and Maharetr for the organisation and cooking of yummy food!
Also, lazing on a couch batting balloons around ranks as a fabulous way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
