Our first point-to-point paddle. It was a little more exciting getting into the water at Osprey Bay as the tide was up and it was a bit splashy so we launched in all happiness and paddled North admiring the turtle heads popping up and the sheer fabulousness of finally being out on the water.

We created some very dubious shade with some kayaks and some tarps at Pilgramunna and lay about in the sand eating lunch. I should mention that lunch was mountain bread, tuna, tomato, mustard pickle, fake cheese and Peanut Butter and Jam henceforth to be known as PB&G due to spelling problems and it was great. Yes I am aware this is problematical.

There was snorkeling and napping then more paddling which was incredible. We passed over South Mandu at low tide which meant we were -just- above the coral. The wind dropped and for about 2-3 hours we paddled slowly over a glassy coral aquarium. There was blue tipped stag coral, LBFs, starfish, a million different fish and it was incredibly beautiful.

I repeatedly saw a whole bunch of fins and tails come above the water as hungry fish splooshed and swished together for food.

Eventually we realised we'd better get off the water, rather than lug them all the way to the cars, we decided to leave the kayaks in the dunes and keep going from the same spot the next day. The amount of stuff we hauled out of them to the cars made this clever avoidance plan a bit redundant.
