Romance! Action! Monsters!

Saw it with [personal profile] ascetic_hedony who has come back from house sitting (Yay! I missed you) and the lovely K from Albany who was in town for a workshop. Got all excited when I got my ticket, if you buy something from the snackbar you get to stick your little Catwoman token in a machine that goes 'beep beep beep' and lights up, no it wasn't just an excuse to buy M&M's thank you.

Ron Perlman - who I don't think I've ever seen in a movie before speaking English - was fabulous as the classic cigar smoking, wisecracking hero with far too many muscles (can there be such a thing?).

It was all good fun, if larger than life and took itself a trifle too seriously for a movie based on a large, red demon who was raised by a paranormal investigator to battle evil, especially when the evil is composed of Tentacles, Rasputin, More Tentacles, Hitler and Things that go Bump in the Night.
