About 32 people attended and all committees gave updates, I always get excited about Open Doors updates - they are working on Fan Culture Preservation. I wrote the AD&T update and wibbled about how much detail to include - how much is too much?
My update:
*loves on her amazing, dedicated committee*
AD&T is almost ready for co-location - this means we've got quotes for hardware (servers) and have found a facility to host it that we're happy with. It will still take us a couple of months to order/install/migrate so it's a long process but we're getting there - Amelia has been amazing :) We're also re-doing Search and Browse now that we're getting serious about site performance - we have to make sure people can find things without killing the servers. Elz has been doing some fabulous work looking at what processes slow things down the most and how to fix them.
Once we have these projects bedded down we plan to start inviting more users and going to Open Beta. This doesn't mean *anyone* will be able to create an account - we will be issuing invitations to existing users to give out so that we can control the rate of growth and manage any performance issues we might encounter - we want to get this right!
We put out a call for suggestions for Collections and Challenges that closes this weekend (30th) and we'll be collating that shortly. We plan to model Challenges on how Yuletide works initially, but also to include enough features that it can be used for a variety of writing challenges. We'll be updating the Beta Archive again this weekend and trying to maintain our rhythm of monthly code updates - there's been a lot of coding and testing going on over the last couple of months - I'm only mentioning the big projects from the Roadmap but we generally have at least five going at any point in time.
We're also looking to communicate more about what we do, so we'll be writing weekly posts about the Archive and AD&T on the weeks the OTW-newsletter doesn't go out.
Questions people asked:
Q: Open Beta Invitations: Will there be an equivalent of the DW OpenID draw?
A: Yes, we plan to have an (as yet un-designed) way for people to enter an email address to join an invite queue so you don't have to know someone with an invite - you will also get an invite if you volunteer to help us in some way.
Q: Any plans for outreach to fandoms that are not represented yet?
A: Not as yet, we're more concerned about taking on and supporting existing users right now.
Q: How many [users] are we at now?
A: 278 at last count - but that's on the virtual server, not our own hardware (it can't support a lot of users)

also: rock on. :)

We're aiming for more information rather than less on the theory that it's better to be slightly bored because you've heard it all before than anxious because you don't know.
We're also one of the few 'project' committees so our work changes all the time. It's harder to make an exciting update for Docs or Legal - although 'Still not sued!' makes me happy every time and I cannot reiterate enough how grateful we are for the Docs committee.
*poses like an idiot*
