The woofer is clearly not going to be protecting us from amphibious home invasion, this little guy was mostly to my bedroom door before it occurred to us that it wasn't a stray ball of dog fur. [livejournal.com profile] maharetr took photos of it for identification.

I''m voting for a moaning frog called Eyrei what with being ...commonly seen and heard frogs in the Perth region. It is a medium to largish frog, with a brown-grey back covered in yellow or grey-black patches. It has a rather rounded snout and large eyes. It is generally a stout and squat frog, without webbed feet... (apparently cane toad have webbed back feet)

How cute!

We get occasional frogs too; you wouldn't think so with our cold climate, and relative distance from a river (about 20 mins away), but there you go.

Oh, cute! I love frogs! Clearly the woofer just thought he was so cute he should be allowed to live with you :D

It is definitely not a Litoria Moorei - Motorbike frog!

Reptiles and Frogs of the Perth Region -Bush,Maryan,Browne-Cooper, Robinson

"Heleioporus eyrei"
Very common on the Swan Coastal Plain, wher it is often unearthed in suburban gardens. ... Brown to dark grey, diffused with irregularly defined yellowish patches. Flanks finely peppered with white spots....Call a long and rising low moan, slowly repeated. The call often causes sleepless nights for people living near wetlands."

The picture also closely resembles your visitor. So I concur, for what it's worth. :-)

Checking the poster at work, I vote moaning or quacking frog.

I can only tell by the calls!

Yes! Course the only one I can recognise is Pea in a Can!

Heh. Engineers make bad animal people.

Thanks! It's Mum's birthday though and I have a family dinner thing.
